TL;DR: A control system that is responsive to an audio signal generated by an audio source such as a computer, video game console, stereo system and the like can be found in this article.
Abstract: A control system that is responsive to an audio signal generated by an audio source such as a computer, video game console, stereo system and the like. The control system converts the audio signal into a control signal for a tactile sensation generator such as a vibrating cushion, vibrating seat pad, and the like. The control system contains an audio signal processor and a control signal generator. The audio signal processor produces a processed signal indicative of the amplitude, frequency, and rate of change of the audio signal. From the processed signal, a control signal generator produces a control signal for a tactile sensation generator. The control signal causes the tactile sensation generator to produce a tactile sensation corresponding to the present scene being displayed, for example, on a monitor of a computer executing a computer game.

TL;DR: In this paper, an audio presentation time stamp (APTS) is detected in the compressed/coded audio data stream in the integrated system and video decoder and stored in a data latch.
Abstract: A multimedia system includes an integrated system and video decoder with an audio/video synchronization circuit (200) for substantially synchronizing the display of video images with audio playback. An audio presentation time stamp (APTS) (415) is detected in the compressed/coded audio data stream in the integrated system and video decoder and stored in a data latch (442). The compressed/coded audio data stream is fed to an audio decoder which decodes/decompresses the audio data and outputs an audio signal. The audio decoder detects when audio data corresponding to an APTS (415) had been output and sets a corresponding flag (213). The flag (213) indicates to the integrated system and video decoder that a corresponding audio segment had been decoded/decompressed and output. The integrated system and video decoder then synchronizes the video output with the audio output by repeating or skipping frames of video data.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose a method for synchronizing the playback of a digital audio broadcast on a plurality of network output devices by inserting an audio waveform sample in an audio stream of the audio broadcast, such that the time between the first and second unique signals must be significantly greater than the latency between sending and receiving devices.
Abstract: A method is provided for synchronizing the playback of a digital audio broadcast on a plurality of network output devices by inserting an audio waveform sample in an audio stream of the digital audio broadcast. The method includes the steps of outputting a first unique signal as part of an audio signal which has unique identifying characteristics and is regularly occurring, outputting a second unique signal so that the time between the first and second unique signals must be significantly greater than the latency between sending and receiving devices, and coordinating play of audio by an audio waveform sample assuring the simultaneous output of the audio signal from multiple devices. An algorithm in hardware, software, or a combination of the two identifies the audio waveform sample in the audio stream. The digital audio broadcast from multiple receivers does not present to a listener any audible delay or echo effect.

TL;DR: In this paper, a signal analyzer for analyzing the audio signal is provided, which determines whether an audio portion is effective in the encoder output signal as a first encoded signal from the first encoding branch or as a second encoded message from a second encoding branch.
Abstract: An audio encoder for encoding an audio signal has a first coding branch, the first coding branch comprising a first converter for converting a signal from a time domain into a frequency domain Furthermore, the audio encoder has a second coding branch comprising a second time/frequency converter Additionally, a signal analyzer for analyzing the audio signal is provided The signal analyzer, on the hand, determines whether an audio portion is effective in the encoder output signal as a first encoded signal from the first encoding branch or as a second encoded signal from a second encoding branch On the other hand, the signal analyzer determines a time/frequency resolution to be applied by the converters when generating the encoded signals An output interface includes, in addition to the first encoded signal and the second encoded signal, a resolution information identifying the resolution used by the first time/frequency converter and used by the second time/frequency converter

TL;DR: In this paper, a device comprised of separate transmitter and receiver sections, which converts an audio signal into an F.M. signal over A.C. power lines, and reconverts the F.m. signal into audio signal, which can then be outputted to loudspeakers or other devices.
Abstract: A device comprised of separate transmitter and receiver sections, which converts an audio signal into an F.M. signal, transmits the F.M. signal over A.C. power lines, and reconverts the F.M. signal into an audio signal, which can then be outputted to loudspeakers or other devices. By transmitting the signal over A.C. lines, no long wires are needed to connect remote loudspeakers or other devices to the source of the audio signal.
