TL;DR: In this article, a system and method for transmitting signals in a Marchand balun is described, where the ground plane has slot lines located beneath the separation of the coils in the first transformer and the second transformer.
Abstract: A system and method for transmitting signals is disclosed. An embodiment comprises a balun, such as a Marchand balun, which has a first transformer with a primary coil and a first secondary coil and a second transformer with the primary coil and a second secondary coil. The first secondary coil and the second secondary coil are connected to a ground plane, and the ground plane has slot lines located beneath the separation of the coils in the first transformer and the second transformer. The slot lines may also have fingers.

TL;DR: In this paper, two 38/76 GHz push-push frequency doubler circuits were realized in a 0.15 /spl mu/m GaAs PHEMT technology and achieved maximum conversion gains of -4 and -6 dB for 12 and 14 dBm input signals, respectively.
Abstract: Two 38/76 GHz push-push frequency doublers have been realized in a 0.15 /spl mu/m GaAs PHEMT technology. The circuits are based on different 180/spl deg/ power divider structures: a Lange coupler followed by a 90/spl deg/ transmission line, and a balun. The circuits achieve maximum conversion gains of -4 and -6 dB for 12 and 14 dBm input signals, respectively. The fundamental suppression is approximately 30 dBc in both cases. To our knowledge, these results represent the best performance reported to date for W-band balanced doublers.

TL;DR: In this article, a new ultra-wideband balun and its application for balanced antenna are presented, where two different types of microstrip to slotline transition forms are adopted for the unbalanced and balanced outputs of the balun.
Abstract: A new ultra-wideband balun and its application for balanced antenna are presented in this paper. To realize the balun-type function, two different types of microstrip to slotline transition forms are adopted for the unbalanced and balanced outputs of the balun. Further, an ultra-wideband balun and its integration with a Vivaldi antenna are designed and fabricated to validate the feasibility of the new approach. Results indicated that the proposed balun and the antenna can operate from 3.6 to 10.7 GHz. For the proposed new balun, it exhibits a good balanced performance of within 0.5 dB magnitude imbalance and less than 6° phase imbalance between the two balanced outputs. Meanwhile, the antenna reveals good unidirectional radiation patterns.

TL;DR: In this paper, a novel printed antenna is presented, which achieves broadband features through a dipole with parasitic element fed by a new microstrip Balun, and the impedance bandwidth is 49.5% for VSWR ≤ 1.5, and cross polarization level is better than −21 dB over the entire frequency band.
Abstract: In this paper, a novel printed antenna is presented, which achieves broadband features through a dipole with parasitic element fed by a new microstrip Balun. Experimental result shows that the impedance bandwidth is 49.5% for VSWR ≤1.5, and the cross polarization level is better than −21 dB over the entire frequency band, and it should find wide application in radar and wireless communication systems. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
