TL;DR: A novel integrated multistage optical MEMS-mirror switch architecture design with Shuffle Benes Inter-stage Connecting principle is proposed, which is very suitable for building large 2D MEMS switches and achieves better performance in terms of beam divergence loss, mirror size, wafer size, port-to-port repeatability and power consumption.

TL;DR: A growable switch architecture based on the topological properties of Banyan Networks is presented and it is shown that the new network has a far better performance than the other networks.
Abstract: This paper focuses on designing a large N X N high-performance Fast Packet switch suitable for mixed ATM and IP traffic It is a Banyan network using cyclic interconnection among switching elements of the same stage We employ deflection-routing algorithm in each switching element The proposed routing is as simple as that of the generic Banyan network, and all the switching elements (SE's) have a uniform structure To design the proposed network and to develop its self-routing property we observe that all the SE's of the Banyan network are arranged in a regular pattern topologically We, thus, present a growable switch architecture based on the topological properties of Banyan Networks As a result, we show that the new network has a far better performance than the other networks.

TL;DR: A compact multichannel all-optical broadcast-enhanced switch that allows electronic alignment thus requires only simple construction procedures for multistage interconnection networks where the alignment plays a major role.
Abstract: All-optical switches are used for many different applications. Broadcast-enhanced switches allow connection of a single input channel to numerous output channels, thus increasing further the possible application span. A compact multichannel all-optical broadcast-enhanced switch is described. This switch setup allows electronic alignment thus requires only simple construction procedures. A special importance of the proposed switch is for multistage interconnection networks where the alignment plays a major role. The switch structure is described and experimentally demonstrated.

TL;DR: Analysis of crosstalk evaluation of a non-blocking banyan switch fabric based on acousto-optic tunable filters (AOTFs) gives the theoretical expression of BER and power penalty.
Abstract: This paper presents a study of crosstalk evaluation of a non-blocking banyan switch fabric based on acousto-optic tunable filters (AOTFs). The non-blocking banyan switch fabric is based on the basic unit of 1x2 AOTFs. After describing the crosstalk that exists in the non-blocking banyan switch fabric based on 1x2 AOTFs, we place our emphasis on the two kinds of crosstalk of them: the accumulated AOTF's coherent crosstalk, and the first-order crosstalk caused by the lack of multiplexers. Analyzing the BER degradation induced by these two kinds of crosstalk, we give the theoretical expression of BER and power penalty.
