TL;DR: A two stage stochastic programming model is proposed to procure the required load-following reserves from both generation and demand side resources under high wind power penetration and a novel load model is introduced to procure flexible reserves from industrial clients.
Abstract: The variable and uncertain nature of the leading renewable energy resources, such as wind power generation, imposes the development of a sophisticated balance mechanism between supply and demand to maintain the consistency of a power system. In this study, a two stage stochastic programming model is proposed to procure the required load-following reserves from both generation and demand side resources under high wind power penetration. Besides, a novel load model is introduced to procure flexible reserves from industrial clients. Load following reserves from Load Serving Entities (LSE) are also taken into account as well as network constraints, load shedding and wind spillage. The proposed methodology is applied to an illustrative test system, as well as to a 24-node system.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluate the benefits of adding a storage device to an electricity distribution network that has two wind turbines with a base load of 500 kW and a typical peak load under 1500 kW, a 2 MW/4 MWh storage is installed.
Abstract: Wind energy could be generated and captured with a storage device within the customer premises for local utilization and for the provision of various services across the electricity supply chain. To assess the benefits of adding a storage device to an electricity distribution network that has two wind turbines with a base load of 500 kW and a typical peak load under 1500 kW, a 2 MW/4 MWh storage is installed. To observe the effects of adding the storage device to the network, a technical analysis is performed using the NEPLAN 360 modelling tool while an economic analysis is carried out by estimating the likely payback period on investment. A storage potential benefit analysis suggests how changes in integration policies could affect the utility of adding the storage device. With the addition of the storage device, self-consumption of wind energy increased by almost 10%. The profitability of the project increased when the device is also deployed to provide stacked services across the electricity supply chain. Policies that permit the integration of devices into the grid could increase the profitability of storage projects.

TL;DR: In this article, a method for determining a power outage probability of an electrical power grid for a time period is proposed, which is carried out by a processor of a data processing unit.
Abstract: A method for determining a power outage probability of an electrical power grid (2) for a time period, the method comprising the following steps carried by a processor of a data processing unit: -dividing the time period into several time intervals, -determining a power generation capacity of a power generation facility (4) and an energy storage unit size for an energy storage unit (8) for said time period, -determining an effective load unit demand for each time interval from a load unit demand of a load unit (6) for each time interval, and -computing the power outage probability using a grid parameter that comprises the power generation capacity, the energy storage unit size and the effective load unit demand, wherein the grid parameter is optimized for its maximum value with respect to all time intervals of the time period.

TL;DR: A technique of buses sorting with ordering is incorporated with the proportional sharing principle and the upstream looking algorithm to trace the flow of electricity and apply AC power flow and considers apparent power in a new wheeling pricing technique.
Abstract: This paper introduces a new wheeling pricing technique called the MVA-KM method, which applies AC power flow and considers apparent power. A technique of buses sorting with ordering is incorporated with the proportional sharing principle and the upstream looking algorithm to trace the flow of electricity. An application example is illustrated. Computational results obtained by applying the proposed MVA-KM method are compared with that applying the MW-MILE method.
