TL;DR: This paper examined the relationship between renewable energy production and greenhouse gas emissions using U.S. state-level data for 2010 and found that states that produce a larger share of renewable energy are found to have lower GHG emissions.

TL;DR: In this paper, the optimal allocation of wind power plants over an extended territory to obtain a low temporal variability without penalizing too much the overall wind energy input into the power system was proposed.
Abstract: In contrast to conventional power generation, wind energy is not a controllable resource because of its stochastic nature, and the cumulative energy input of several wind power plants into the electric grid may cause undesired fluctuations in the power system. To mitigate this effect, the authors propose a procedure to calculate the optimal allocation of wind power plants over an extended territory to obtain a low temporal variability without penalizing too much the overall wind energy input into the power system. The procedure has been tested over Corsica (France), the fourth largest island in the Mediterranean Basin. The regional power supply system of Corsica could be sensitive to large fluctuations in power generation like wind power swings caused by the wind intermittency. The proposed methodology is based on the analysis of wind measurements from 10 anemometric stations located along the shoreline of the island, where most of the population resides, in a reasonably even distribution. TL;DR: The challenges of photovoltaic in restructured power systems are shown and PV technologies could provide more secure mode of operation for power system during peak load hours when the systems are constrained and locational marginal prices are high.
Abstract: In response to global issues for the generation and delivery of electrical power, photovoltaic (PV) and other renewable energy technologies are gaining acceptance as a way of maintaining and improving living standards without harming the environment PV could help mitigate energy crises by reducing peak demand and securing the delivery of power in congested locations by decentralizing the power generation This article shows the challenges of photovoltaic in restructured power systems PV technologies could provide more secure mode of operation for power system during peak load hours when the systems are constrained and locational marginal prices are high

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the operational flexibility of coal-fired supercritical coal power plants with amine-based CO2 capture, using a rigorous fully integrated model, and reported the part-load performance with capture and with additional solvent regeneration, of two coal-fire supercritical power plant configurations designed for base load operation with capture, and with the ability to fully bypass capture.
