TL;DR: This tutorial jumps right in to the power of PowerShell without dragging you through basic programming concepts that you might be used to seeing in modern-day programming languages like C# and VB.NET.
Abstract: Anyone familiar with SharePoint 2010 or Windows Server Administration is likely familiar with PowerShell—it is hard to escape it. Microsoft introduced PowerShell as a more advanced script language to replace legacy DOS batch files, which are clunky and difficult to work with. PowerShell includes a number of programming concepts that we are used to seeing in modern-day programming languages, like C# and VB.NET. Furthermore, Microsoft built PowerShell atop of the .NET platform, so scriptwriters can take advantage of the .NET Framework to manipulate objects, instead of strings.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a method to easily form a batch file by composing a command string from a file name and a command format, converting specific characters including the command string and then outputting the Command string as batch file.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily form a batch file by composing a command string from a file name and a command format, converting specific characters including the command string and then outputting the command string as a batch file. CONSTITUTION:A file name extracting part 3 segments a file name part from the output of a DIR information input part 1, connects its first half part to its latter half part through a period '.' and outputs the connected result. A command composing part 4 substitutes the file name received from the extracting part 3 for the part of '*.*' to compose commands only by the number of file names to form text data to be the base of a batch file. A specific character conversion part 5 converts specific characters which can not be used as the input parameter of a command MKBAT because of executing operation different from the expected operation in an MS-DOS (disk operating system) into substitutive characters. Consequently, the batch file can easily be formed only by inserting the command string for commanding the formation of the batch file.

TL;DR: In this paper, the help panel built up AS a batch file of a personal computer (PC) 12 is uploaded and is held in a temporary storage area in the OV/MVS.
Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide an upload processing automatizing method for help panel in a data processing system. CONSTITUTION: A cluster or virtual storage access methods is assigned and installed to a client information control system area (CICS) which executes office vision/multiple virtual storage (OV/MVS), thereby generating a multiple virtual storage (MVS) environment. The help panel built up AS a batch file of a personal computer (PC) 12 is uploaded and is held in a temporary storage area in the OV/MVS. The PC batch file is taken out from the temporary storage area by using OV/MVS facilities and is converted into an MVS format file. The converted file is held in a special save area. The converted PC file in the save area us used as help panel index data to generate a shared document.

TL;DR: A method for implementing an object oriented approach to batch programming using existing batch compilers is discussed and a simple system is provided as a case study in the approach.
Abstract: Object oriented programming is a method of organizing a program, its data and functions into logical units that can be individually addressed. Industrial applications are well suited for this approach due to the modular nature of process design. However, batch programming languages do not currently provide the necessary structures and programming tools needed to properly implement true object oriented code. This paper discusses a method for implementing an object oriented approach to batch programming using existing batch compilers. A simple system is provided as a case study in the approach.
