TL;DR: In this article, a fan shroud was designed to achieve compactification and to improve wind starting ability by curving blade parts so that the angle radius, which the curved face makes with a radius line employing the axial line as the center, in each part of the curve face of the blade parts is reduced as it goes toward the outside in the radial direction.
Abstract: PURPOSE: To accomplish compactification and to improve wind starting ability by curving blade parts so that the angle radius, which the curved face makes with a radius line employing the axial line as the center, in each part of the curved face of the blade parts is reduced as it goes toward the outside in the radial direction CONSTITUTION: In a fan shroud 7 for a heat exchanger, multiple blade parts 6, which are arranged at some intervals and are parallel to each other, are arranged in a rear part bell mouth 8, which is formed in the rear end part of a shroud main body 2 and is tapered toward the upstream side, while the curved faces of the blades 6 are parallel to the axial line of the shroud main body 2, and the curved faces are curved so that, in each part of the curved faces, an angle which the curved face makes with the radius line employing the axial line as the center is reduced as it goes further to the outside in the radial direction Therefore, wind starting force in the vicinity of the tip part of blades 5 of a fan 4 is increased Especially, a circumferential directional velocity component and a radius directional velocity component are large in the tip part of the blades 5 of the fan 4, so that air flow is smoothly faired by means of the blade parts 6 conforming with the flow in the flow direction, and the wind starting ability is improved as a whole COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO

TL;DR: In this paper, a rear bell mouth is formed in a fan shape at the rear end of a shroud main body, and a plurality of vanes 6 are disposed while being separated in the circumferential direction in such a way that respective front end peripheries are extended to the rear bellmouth 8, and moreover, the respective vanes are arranged i,n parallel with the axial line of the shroud mainbody 2.
Abstract: PURPOSE: To let the wind blow compactly, and concurrently let wind blowing force be raised in the sprung wind blowing from the front face side to the back face side of the cores of a heat exchanger behind which a fan is housed inside. CONSTITUTION: A rear bell mouth 8 the base of which spreads out like a fan, is formed afterward in a bell mouth shape at the rear end section of a shroud main body 2. A plurality of vanes 6 are disposed while being separated in the circumferential direction in such a way that respective front end peripheries are extended to the rear bell mouth 8, and moreover, the respective vanes 6 are arranged i,n parallel with the axial line of the shroud main body 2. And concurrently each wane is curved in such a way that an angle θ formed by a radial line R around the axial line and a tangent to the curved surface of each wane at a portion of each vane 6, is made smaller as the aforesaid portion goes outward in the radial direction, and each space between the rear end peripheries of the respective vanes 6 is formed into a row in such a way as to be formed into a plane which runs roughly along the rear bell mouth 6. TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a method to reduce noises and blast resistance by improving the construction of a bell mouth and a supply grille in a fan-shaped casing. But the work was limited to a single fan.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce noises and blast resistance by improving a construction of a bell mouth and a supply grille CONSTITUTION:A bellmouth 21 arranged to surround a fan 7 in a casing comprises a ring portion 22 which is substantially semi-circular or quarter- circular in cross section and to which an outlet of the casing is opened, a cylindrical portion 23 provided integrally and continuously from inside of the ring portion 22 to the opening side thereof, and a support plate 25 having a curved portion 24 which is joined to the cylindrical portion 23 and diverges gradually A spacing, depth or width of lattice-shaped frames of a supply grille 15 provided on the outlet of the casing is set to be greater on an outer peripheral side than a central portion of the fan

22 Jun 1994TL;DR: An air blower comprises a rotary fan having an array of radial blades, and a stationary bell mouth arranged in a coaxial encircling relationship to an outer periphery of the blade array as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: An air blower comprises a rotary fan having an array of radial blades, and a stationary bell mouth arranged in coaxial encircling relationship to an outer periphery of the blade array. Each blade includes an upstream side, and the bell mouth includes an upstream side. A radially inner end of the upstream side of the bell mouth is coplanar with radially outer ends of the upstream sides of the blades.

TL;DR: In this article, a suction bell 2 movable axially of a SUction casing is provided outside the suction casing and made of structure and material lighter than water as a whole.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable stable running in low water level while reducing pressure variation generated in supplying air into a casing to stabilize the supply of air. CONSTITUTION:A suction bell 2 movable axially of a suction casing 1 is provided outside the suction casing 1 and made of structure and material lighter than water as a whole. A bell mouth 2 is provided on the inner periphery with a plurality of axial vertical grooves 5 and projections guided by the vertical grooves 5 are provided on the outer periphery of the suction casing 1 so that the bell mouth 2 is moved through the projection only by the buoyancy of water. Air is stably supplied into the suction casing 1 through a clearlance 9 between the suction casing 1 and suction bell 2.
