Abstract: Pumping stations are important regulation facilities in a water distribution system. Intake structures can generally have a great influence on the operational state of the pumping station. To analyze the effects of the bell mouth height of the two-way intake on the performance characteristics and the pressure pulsations of a two-way pumping station, the laboratory-sized model pump units with three different intakes were experimentally investigated. To facilitate parameterized control, ellipse and straight lines were used to construct the profile of the bell mouth. The frequency domain and time-frequency domain of the pressure pulsations on the wall of intakes were analyzed by the Welch’s power spectral density estimate and the continuous wavelet transform (CWT) methods, respectively. The results showed that the bell mouth height (H) has significant influences on the uniformity of the impeller inflow and the operation stability of the pump unit. When H = 204 mm, the data fluctuated greatly throughout the test process and the performance curves are slightly lower than the other two schemes. As the bell mouth height gradually decreases, the average pressure difference of each measuring point began to decrease, more homogeneous velocity distribution of impeller inflow can be ensured. The amplitude of blade passing frequency is obvious in the spectrum. While when (H) is more than 164 mm, the main frequency of pressure pulsations at three points fluctuates with the rotation of the impeller. When H decreases to 142 mm, pressure pulsations will be independent of the operating conditions and positions which contributes to the long-term stable operation of the pump unit.

Abstract: To solve a problem that a restriction part of a bell mouth inlet cannot be constituted due to reduction in the size of an outdoor unit, causing an air current to separate from an air course.SOLUTION: A refrigeration cycle device includes a casing, a heat exchanger and an axial flow blower. The casing holds the heat exchanger and the axial flow blower, and the heat exchanger is disposed adjacent to the axial flow blower on the upstream side of an air current generated by the axial flow blower. The axial flow blower includes an axial flow fan and a bell mouth, and the bell mouth has an approximately cylindrical shape surrounding the axial flow blower. The refrigeration cycle device further includes a partition wall provided between the heat exchanger and the bell mouth. The partition wall without a flow straightening effect that is provided between the axial flow blower and the heat exchanger disposed on the upstream side of the bell mouth is formed to have a nozzle shape projecting toward the downstream side of the air current, so as to straighten the air current.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3

The rack is a movable rack, or the rack is further provided with a mechanical arm which is connected with the rotating device and can adjust the relative position of the bell mouth mold and the pipe casting equipment; the bell mouth mold comprises at least one first arc-shaped core block and a second arc-shaped core block which are arranged in a staggered mode and can define a ring shape, the arc length of the inner arc surface of the second arc-shaped core block is larger than or equal to that of the outer arc surface, the first arc-shaped core block is connected with the rotating device through a first telescopic rod, and the second arc-shaped core block is connected with the rotating device through a second telescopic rod. The bellmouth device for nodular cast iron pipe production is easy and convenient to operate, a bellmouth mold does not need to be damaged, repeated utilization of the bellmouthmold is achieved, and the defects of high cost, environmental pollution and the like caused by using a sand core are thoroughly overcome.

Abstract: Charged particles are widely used in the fields of defogging, haze removal and artificial rainfall. A novel transport strategy of charged particles based on the vortex rings is presented in this paper, to expand the effective action region and enhance the effect of charged particles. Transport distance and transport velocity (TV) of charged particles are the crucial two evaluation indexes. For the vortex rings generated by a piston-cylinder device, the transport velocity is closely related to Reynolds number and formation time. Based on the k-ω turbulence model, this paper verifies the relationship between vortex ring circulation, transport velocity and Formation Number in air by finite element methods, and studies the influence on the formation of vortex rings of an insulating bell mouth placed at the outlet of cylinder. The simulation results show that the Formation Number of vortex rings in the air is 4.0 ~ 5.0, and the growth rate of transport velocity of vortex ring slows down when the formation time is larger than Formation Number. The study also indicates that the bell mouth has little effect on the velocity of the vortex ring, when the bell mouth angle is greater than 45° and the length of generatrix is between 0.2 m and 1.0 m. Therefore, the research results can provide a reference for the design and optimization of a vortex ring generator for transporting charged particles to a certain target area.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a circulation air volume increasing apparatus using the venturi principle for an underground parking lot, capable of enabling smooth air supply and exhaust by forcibly circulating an indoor air current (air) in an underground parking lot in which an air flow is stagnant. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the circulation air volume increasing apparatus includes: a fixing bracket of which the top is mounted on the ceiling of an underground parking lot; a driving motor installed on a fan joint pipe mounted in the bottom of the fixing bracket; an impeller connected to the driving motor to circulate an indoor air current in the parking lot through intake and discharge when rotated; an inflow side sound absorption pipe and a discharge side sound absorption pipe, formed at both ends of the fan joint pipe to absorb a noise generated when the indoor air current is sucked and discharged through the rotation of the impeller; a bell mouth formed in an opening part of the inflow side sound absorption pipe, and inducing the intake of the indoor air current during the rotation of the impeller; a nozzle pipe extended from the outlet of the discharge side sound absorption pipe, and inducing the discharge of the indoor air current during the rotation of the impeller; and an air volume increasing pipe having both ends opened and formed at a random distance from a lateral surface of the nozzle pipe. Therefore, the indoor air current in the underground parking lot is sucked through the bell mouth when the impeller is rotated, and the pressure of the indoor air current sucked through the bell mouth and discharged through the nozzle pipe enables an indoor air current around the inlet of a venturi passage between the air volume increasing pipe and the nozzle pipe to be sucked into the air volume increasing pipe, thereby increasing the air volume.

Abstract: A new generation launch vehicle developed by ISRO consists of solid, liquid, and cryogenic stages. Cryogenic stage uses liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen as oxidizer and fuel, respectively, for propulsion. Fuel and oxidizer are stored in cylindrical tanks with tori-spherical end domes. When the above fluids get depleted from the tanks, dip formation in the liquid surface and subsequent ullage gas entry into the outlet occurs. Formation of surface dip and subsequent gas entry into the outlet is governed by either sink potential phenomenon or vortex phenomenon or combination of both. This could lead to malfunction of the liquid rocket engine. Critical height of propellant from the tank bottom is defined as the elevation at which surface dip forms. Hence, the estimation of critical height is very important in order to quantify unused propellant toward the end of the thrusting phase. Two-phase flow due to vortex can be eliminated by providing either anti-vortex baffle or wire mesh/filter. But it cannot be eliminated due to sink phenomenon unless the outlet is properly designed. Oxidizer tank is provided with a siphoning feed line with wire mesh on the upstream of the inlet to supply contaminant-free liquid oxygen to engine. Published literature on siphoning feed line for the estimation of critical height is very limited. In addition to the above, information on effect of pressure drop due to the presence of wire mesh in the flow path on critical height is also not available. Numerical analysis is carried out using ANSYS CFD software to estimate the critical height for the above siphoning feed line with wire mesh. In order to verify the modeling of wire mesh, two different fluid models (without wire mesh and with wire mesh having zero pressure drop) are used. Oxidizer and gas contained in the tank are idealized as incompressible viscous fluids. Time-dependent Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes (RANS) equations with continuity and volume fraction equations are solved to estimate the height at which surface dip forms. Numerical simulations are repeated using the fluid model with wire mesh for different pressure drops across it in order to find its effect on critical height. Pressure drop across a wire mesh is due to reduced flow area and is dependent on wire mesh size, density, viscosity, and velocity of fluid. From the numerical investigations, it is found that the presence of wire mesh in the flow path at the upstream of siphoning feed line results in higher critical height due to pressure drop across it. Hence, it is recommended to relocate the wire mesh to the inlet of the siphoning feed line. Another important conclusion is that radial velocity at the inlet of siphoning feed line should be low so that the liquid till its inlet can be utilized. This can be achieved by increasing the bell mouth diameter of the siphoning feed line.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a motor to which an integrated impeller and a bell mouth are applied. Particularly, the present invention relates to a motor which comprises: a stator having a central hole in the center; a coil installed on the stator and protruding up and down through upper and lower surfaces of the stator; a rotor disposed in the central hole of the stator; a housing respectively installed on upper and lower portions of the stator; an impeller installed inside the housing; and a bell mouth guiding air sucked in when the impeller rotates. The impeller includes: a base disposed on an upper surface of the rotor and penetrating a rotation axis of the rotor; and a plurality of lower blades formed to be integrally spaced apart along an edge of the base and positioned inside the coil. The bell mouth is integrally formed on an upper surface of the lower blade, thereby simplifying assembly man-hour and improving cooling efficiency.

Abstract: A segmentation-type esophageal stent and a weaving method therefor. The esophageal stent is a cylindrical mesh stent that is formed by weaving a monofilament and has two ends in the shape of a bell mouth; the mesh stent consists of an upper bell mouth segment and a lower bell mouth segment; the upper bell mouth segment and the lower bell mouth segment are connected by means of several locking structures. Compared with an existing hook-type lock, a cruciform locking structure can enhance the supporting force of a whole esophageal stent and have good rigidity; the two ends of the esophageal stent both are in the shape of the bell mouth; by means of the design of the bell mouth, after the esophageal stent is inserted into an esophagus, the bell mouth in an upper part facilitates the pass of food, and the bell mouth in a lower part can prevent the stent from displacing and have a good function of fixing the stent, so that the stent is accurately fixed and positioned; the weaving process of the whole stent is completed by means one filament, so that the rigidity of the esophageal stent is improved, the axial compressional deformation of the esophageal stent can also be reduced, and the normal use of the esophageal stent is ensured.

Abstract: According to the present invention, an outside air-introduced air cleaning unit for attachment to a ceiling has an outside air damper capable of supplying air, which is purified by allowing fresh outside air to pass through a filter included in a total heat exchanger, is allowed to pass through a heat exchanger, and then is heat-exchanged with inside polluted air, with a reduced concentration of CO_2 in the interior, suctions inside air again, filters foreign substances, harmful substances, and smells, and then discharges the filtered air to the interior, so that while fresh air continues to be kept in the interior, the inside air can be discharged to the interior by recycling the same, thereby increasing total energy efficiency during air conditioning. To this end, the outside air-introduced air cleaning unit for attachment to a ceiling comprises: a case having a predetermined size and shape and having a first through hole formed in a central portion thereof; a bell mouth formed in a lower portion of the case and smoothing the flow of introduced air; a grill panel formed in a central portion of the bell mouth and having a second through hole; a suction grill formed on a central portion of the outside of the grill panel to suction the inside air; a fan motor fitted into the first through hole formed in the central portion of the case to facilitate the flow of air; and the outside air damper formed on one side of a side surface of the case to supply outside air, introduced from the total heat exchanger, to the interior.

According to the pipe diameter bellmouth measuring device with the elastic extrusion handle, an elastic detection rod is axially fixed at the top end of an industrial robot consisting of a bottom mounting seat with a built-in bottom motor, a longitudinal adjusting arm, a transverse overturning arm, a top detection arm and a detection motor; a movable connecting frame at the top end of the elastic detection rod is movably connected with a detection roller for detecting the internal length of the pipe diameter bell mouth and the turn number detection module matched with the detection roller; the size of the pipe diameter bellmouth is detected by detecting the number of turns of the roller, and the whole device is simple and convenient to assemble and disassemble, low in cost, more widely applicable to shapes and structures of pipelines, free of influence of environmental factors and very high in detection precision.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a fan aimed at forcibly inducting and discharging air, thereby circulating the air. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the fan with an improved induction performance comprises a plurality of main blades installed on a bell mouth unit, which inducts air, to induct and discharge air through the bell mouth unit in accordance with the fan′s rotation, comprises: an edge extension unit extended to protrude towards the outside along the circumference of an end unit of the fan facing an end of the bell mouth; and a skirt unit extended from an end of the edge extension unit towards a side surface of the bell mouth to cover a gap generated between an end of the bell mouth and the edge extension unit such that the air reversely flowing through the gap generated between the edge extension unit and the bell mouth is prevented from being discharged. The internal diameter of the end of the bell mouth is the same as the internal diameter of the edge extension unit such that the inner circumferential surface of the bell mouth has continuity with the inner circumferential surface of the fan, and air resistance is reduced. Therefore, a drop in the induction properties due to the introduction of a reverse flow can be prevented and the air discharge properties can be improved.

Abstract: Computational fluid dynamic analysis of inlet duct fogging system was carried out to understand the characteristics flow of nozzles spray along the air inlet duct channel of Alstom GT13E2 gas turbine, the numerical work is validated using wind tunnel experimental data of previous study. Flow resistance on the nozzle were studied at specified reference locations. The results obtained have shown that, fogging spray possesses significant effects on mass flow rate due transfer of heat of evaporation caused by air to the liquid droplets in the inlet duct, which greatly influence the performance of the compressor and turbine. An adequately space between the nozzles array and compressor bell mouth produces mass flow rate evaporability up to 87.63% and temperature difference drop by roughly 6°C. The pressure distribution becomes uniformly and squarely distributed when positioned at least 2.0 m away from the nozzle array. The current research offers an inclusive coverage on the droplets evaporative cooling effects, air flow resistance through pressure drop and their effects on the compressor performances, it is our desire that the work will be of added benefit to the gas turbine engine designers.
