TL;DR: In this paper, an air blower and a ventilation fan are used to change air in a space of a house etc and capable of improving an air blowing capacity and reducing noise when static pressure is applied even if a step is formed in the vicinity of a suction bell mouth.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air blower and a ventilation fan used to change air in a space of a house etc and capable of improving an air blowing capacity and reducing noise when static pressure is applied even if a step is formed in the vicinity of a suction bell mouth SOLUTION: The suction bell mouth 5 having a recess 10 is provided on a front panel 6 of a ventilation fan body 1 mounted with the front panel 6 including an upstream side step 8 and an oil reservoir 9 for collecting droplets The air blower comprises the suction bell mouth 5 and an axial flow impeller 3 By this configuration, the ventilation fan can facilitate maintenance, improve the air blowing capacity and reduce noise when static pressure is applied COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of dimensions of the meshed plates on the critical submergence in an experimental model of a dam vertical intake has been studied and the results showed that using the vertical meshed plate could reduce the critical inundation up to 35%.
Abstract: Formation of the vortex at the entrance of a dam intake reduces its capacity. One of the common methods for preventing the air entry and reducing the power of the vortex is the use of meshed plates. In this research the effect of dimensions of the meshed plates on the critical submergence in an experimental model of bell-mouth vertical intake has been studied. The results showed that, using the vertical meshed plates could reduce the critical submergence up to 35%. At the end, an equation using Froude number and dimensions of the meshed plates was proposed that could predict the relative submergence, accurately.
