Abstract: A vertical support rigidly mounted to a planar base positions and supports a cryocooler expander unit off axis and away from a sample to be examined. The sample support is likewise rigidly mounted to the planar base with a rigidly mounted sample housing therein. The cryocooler expander unit is suspended in the vertical support by spring dampening bearings. A pair of opposing flexible vacuum bellows connects the cryocooler expander unit to the sample housing and vertical support. This configuration isolates the sample from vibration. Flexible thermal links associated with a predictive electronic closed loop control sequence maintains sample temperature.

Abstract: The article contains the result of studies on the effects of selected geometrical parameters of elastic bellows on their elastic properties. Bellows models were produced with using additive technology, selective laser sintering SLS, where the material used to build models was polyamide PA 2200. Based on the measurements of elastic deformation coefficients of each models bellows were determined. Comparing the results of the measurements there was found a significant effect of the thickness, number of corrugations and their length on the value of the coefficient of elasticity.

Abstract: We present the design of an efficient bellows-controlled diamond anvil cell that is optimized for use inside the bores of high-field superconducting magnets in helium-3 cryostats, dilution refrigerators, and commercial physical property measurement systems. Design of this non-magnetic pressure cell focuses on in situ pressure tuning and measurement by means of a helium-filled bellows actuator and fiber-coupled ruby fluorescence spectroscopy, respectively. We demonstrate the utility of this pressure cell with ac susceptibility measurements of superconducting, ferromagnetic, and antiferromagnetic phase transitions to pressures exceeding 8 GPa. This cell provides an opportunity to probe charge and magnetic order continuously and with high resolution in the three-dimensional Magnetic Field–Pressure–Temperature parameter space.

Abstract: When air is forced out from bellows (211-213) of a finger joint movement part (110j)(j=1, …, 5) by an adjustment part (180), the air pressure in the bellows falls. When the air pressure falls in this manner, the bellows contract while the angle of intersection expands between the direction faced by one end of the bellows and the direction faced by the other end. As a result, the first to third joints are in a state of joint extension. When air is forcefully supplied to the bellows (211-213) by the adjustment part (180), the air pressure inside the bellows rises. When the air pressure rises in this manner, annular grooves of the bellows, which are equivalent to the bent sides of the joint, are restrained by a restraining member in the bellows, and the bellows therefore expand into a substantially arcuate shape while the angle of intersection narrows between the direction faced by one end of the bellows and the direction faced by the other end. As a result, the first to third joints are in a state of joint bending. Therefore, joint movement can be performed appropriately.

The tool comprises an argon cylinder, a gas pipe, an axial loading shaft, an axial loading device fixing plate, a gas cylinder, an axial loading sleeve, a sleeve support plate, a bench, a positioning plate, positioning nuts, positioning studs, a sealing device, an electrifying device, a metal die frame, and a ceramic die. The method includes: keeping the temperature of 600-900 DEG C and inner air pressure 0.1-0.5MPa of a pipe billet for 100-250s, assembling the die, keeping the inner air pressure 2.0-3.0MPa of the pipe billet for 200-400s, powering off, relieving air pressure, and cooling to obtain a titanium alloy bellows. The die and method belonging to the field of bellows production have the advantages that heat loss consumed for the die during integral heating in the traditional plastic hot-forming process is avoided.

Abstract: A resonant engine in which the piston-cylinder assembly is replaced by a flexible cavity is realized at the mesoscale using flexible metal bellows to demonstrate the feasibility of the concept. A four stroke motoring technique is developed and measurements are performed to determine parasitic losses. A non-linear lumped parameter model is developed to evaluate the engine performance. Experimentally, the heat transfer and friction effects are separated by varying the engine speed and operating frequency. The engine energy flow diagram showing the energy distribution among various parasitic elements reveals that the friction loss in the bellows is smaller than the sliding friction loss in a typical piston-cylinder assembly.

Abstract: This paper describes a successful adaptation of a discrete particle swarm optimisation DPSO to optimal design of bellows. EJMA standard and engineering practices-based mathematical model of unreinforced U-shaped bellows are established. An n-DPSO and scheme of constraint levels with huge value penalty are proposed to reproduce new particles and keep the best particles. Through benchmark problems, the obtained optimal results demonstrate that the approach clearly outperforms those from literatures. The bellows with diameters of 100 mm to 1,500 mm at 0.6 MPa to 1.6 MPa are designed by the approach and established mathematical model, the optimal solutions show that they are much better than those of bellows in-service and highly close to theoretical solutions. It is concluded that the established mathematical models are reasonable and the approach can be adopted in bellow design as it yields rational, reliable, time-saving and economically practical designs.

The solar drying system comprises a solar greenhouse, a solar energy storage stand, an air condenser, a wet dust collector, pipelines, valves and fans. The solar greenhouse, the solar energy storage stand, the air condenser and the wet dust collector are connected through the pipelines. The building structure of the solar greenhouse is a frame structure. A floor of the solar greenhouse is a concrete perforated plate. The solar energy storage stand comprises an upper bellows, a lower bellows, a plurality of solar heat collecting and storing pipes and a sealing chamber. The air condenser is in a cylinder structure. An air inlet and an air outlet are formed in the side of the cylinder. Air boxes are arranged at an upper cylinder opening and a lower cylinder opening and communicated through an air tube. The other air inlet is formed under the floor of the solar greenhouse. Another two air outlets are formed upon the floor. The air inlet and one air outlet of the solar greenhouse, the upper air box of the solar energy storage stand and the upper air box and the air outlet of the air condenser are all communicated through the pipelines. The lower air box of the air condenser is connected with the wet dust collector.

The ends of the adapters, which are provided with flanges, are inwardly fitted in the hole of the outer pipe, and the flanges are provided with seal rings which are matched with the outer pipe to form a shaft seal structure. Both ends of each of the symmetrically arranged bellows are respectively coaxially and tightly connected with the intermediate connector and one of the adapters, and the flow guide pipe is connected with the two inner pipes to form a two-way internal pressure compensation structure. The protective pipe is sleeved on the outer pipe, the thermal insulation material is filled in the gap between the outer pipe and the protective pipe, in addition, the short pipes are coaxially connected with the outward end surfaces of the flanges of the adapters, the thermal insulation material is filled between the fitted sections of the short pipes and the adapters as well, and the thermal insulation materials at the two positions are formed into an overall outer thermal insulation structure. The coupler further includes first and second extensions coupled to the intermediate element and projecting outwardly from the intermediate element. The first extension spaces the first flange from the intermediate element to define a first air gap, and the second extension spaces the second flange from the intermediate element to define a second air gap. The first and second flanges dispose a portion of the outer element above the intermediate element to define a third air gap.

Abstract: An electric submersible pumping system includes a motor filled with motor lubricant, a pump driven by the motor, and a fluid expansion chamber connected to the motor. The fluid expansion chamber includes a seal bag filled with a seal bag lubricant and a bellows contained within the seal bag. The bellows includes an interior in fluid communication with the motor and an exterior in fluid communication with the seal bag lubricant.

Abstract: The invention relates to a cabin air suspension valve unit (4). While such cabin air suspension valve units are equipped in accordance with the prior art by a mechanical level control, the invention proposes that the cabin air suspension valve unit (4) by electrically controlled solenoid valves (17, 25a, 25b, 48) has that of a control unit (5) are driven, and the ventilation of the air suspension bellows (7, 9, 11, 12) carry, on which is a driver's cab supported. Optionally via the cabin air suspension valve unit (4) by means of a further solenoid valve (49) carried out the ventilation of an air spring (42) of a driver's seat (43). The invention can be used for driver's cabs of commercial vehicles.
