TL;DR: In this article, a pair of vertically spaced sensors in a tank such as a boiler are connected to one of the two bellows which produces an electrical output signal proportional to the difference between the pressures at the locations of the second bellows and, thus, the level of liquid in the tank.
Abstract: A liquid level system employs a pair of vertically spaced sensors in a tank such as a boiler. Each sensor includes a pair of bellows. The first bellows is enclosed by a protective enclosure while the second bellows is exposed to the interior of the tank. The first bellows of the two sensors are interconnected and filled with a liquid forming substance, such as an alkali metal, which is in liquid phase at high temperatures, while the second bellows of each sensor and the enclosure for the first bellows are interconnected and filled with a second liquid-forming substance, such as a metal alloy, which is essentially inert. A transducer is connected to one of the second bellows which produces an electrical output signal proportional to the difference between the pressures at the locations of the second bellows and, thus, the level of liquid in the tank.

TL;DR: In this article, a squeeze film damper assembly with variable stiffness and damping control is described, which includes a damper chamber formed by two flexible bellows chambers of the sides.
Abstract: A squeeze film damper assembly having a variable stiffness and damping control. The squeeze film damper includes a damper chamber formed by two flexible bellows chambers of the sides. A first pressure source is applied to the damper chamber to regulate the damping. A second pressure source is applied to the flexible bellows chambers to vary the stiffness of the damper. The flexible bellows chambers are secured between an outer member and an inner member of the damper assembly and form the sealed damper chamber. A pressure ratio between the bellows chambers and the damper chamber can vary to control the stiffness of the squeeze film damper.

TL;DR: In this article, a thermostat is provided that includes a housing, a temperature sensor assembly, a switching arrangement and an adjustment shaft, and the adjustment shaft is configured to adjust a temperature set point at which the sensor assembly actuates the switching arrangement.
Abstract: A thermostat is provided that includes a housing, a temperature sensor assembly, a switching arrangement and an adjustment shaft is provided. The housing includes a generally L-shaped main body attached to a generally U-shaped cover. The temperature sensor assembly includes a bellows operably fluidly attached to a capillary tube. The bellows and capillary tube define a sealed cavity storing a working fluid. The switching arrangement is operably actuated by the temperature sensor assembly to open and close a circuit as a result of changes in temperature of the working fluid. The adjustment shaft is configured to adjust a temperature set point at which the temperature sensor assembly actuates the switching arrangement. The adjustment shaft extends through the housing. Methods of assembly of the thermostat are also provided.

TL;DR: In this paper, a C-shaped spring-loaded gasket with upper and lower gasket legs was used to transmit axial loads between the seal ring and the bellows flange.
Abstract: A mechanical seal (10) of the invention includes relatively rotatable seal rings (15)(16) and a secondary seal (65) therefore. The secondary seal (65)(140) is a C-shaped spring (71)(141) loaded gasket having upper and lower gasket legs (67)(68). The gasket (65)(140) is provided between two of the seal components, for example, between an axially movable seal ring (16) and a bellows flange (97). The gasket (140) has one leg thereof confined axially to transmit axial loads between the seal ring (16) and the bellows flange (97). Also, the upper and lower gasket legs are biased axially apart by a spring (71)(141) to permit radial movement between the seal ring and the bellows flange and also accommodate different rates of thermal expansion between the seal ring (16) and bellows flange (97).

TL;DR: In this paper, an air permeable cushion includes a base plate with several holes formed therethrough, several spring units erected on the base plate, and a covering made of an air- permeable cloth and enveloping the spring units therein.
Abstract: An air permeable cushion includes a base plate with several holes formed therethrough, several spring units erected on the base plate, and a covering made of an air permeable cloth and enveloping the spring units therein. Each of the spring units includes a bellows tube and a coiled compression spring mounted within the bellows tube. The bellows tube has a bottom wall abutting against the base plate and provided with a check valve that is communicated with a corresponding hole of the base plate in order to prevent air in the bellows tube from flowing out of the same through the bottom wall while permitting air to flow from the corresponding hole of the base plate into the bellows tube through the valve, a top wall abutting against the covering and having several holes formed therethrough, and an accordion-like peripheral wall interconnecting the top and bottom walls so that, when pressure is applied on the covering, the bellows tube contracts, thereby causing air to flow through the covering via the holes of the top wall. When the pressure applied on the covering is released, the bellows tube expands by action of the spring, thereby sucking in air via the valve and the holes of the top wall.
