TL;DR: In this article, a gas lift valve is used for continuous flow operation with an externally biased bellows which is pressurized internally to open the valve and a noncompressible liquid surrounding the bellows and flows upwardly through a passage about the valve stem into a dome in the valve which is pressedurized to a predetermined pressure to resist movement and opening of the valve.
Abstract: A gas lift valve for use in a continuous flow operation which has an externally biased bellows which is pressurized internally to open the valve. A noncompressible liquid surrounds the bellows and flows upwardly through a passage about the valve stem into a dome in the valve which is pressurized to a predetermined pressure to resist movement of the bellows and opening of the valve. Fluid passes through a series of labyrinth rings formed on the valve stem adjacent the passage into the dome to dampen valve movement. An O-ring seal on the valve stem below the passage into the dome engages and seals off the passage if excessive pressure expands the bellows to a predetermined point such that the bellows will be protected from rupture by the noncompressible liquid trapped about the bellows. A snubber ring of nonmetallic material is positioned about the lower end of the valve stem to limit lateral movement of the valve ball in the seat. A travel limit spring in the pressure chamber between the valve stem and the housing and is compressed to limit upward movement of the valve stem. A throttling spring exerts upward pressure on the valve stem to reduce valve hysteresis and minimize the pressure differential across the bellows. The throttling spring and bellows work together with the valve ball and seat assembly to cause a reduced gas flow through the valve as the tubing pressure reduces. The reaction of the throttling spring and bellows facilitates the even, continuous flow of the gas.

TL;DR: In this article, a flexible protective bellows for enclosing a universal joint of a vehicle transmission is designed so that alternate folds are of different shape from the intervening ones, which reduces wear between the peaks of adjacent folds when the bellows is compressed.
Abstract: A flexible protective bellows for enclosing a universal joint of a vehicle transmission is designed so that alternate folds are of different shape from the intervening ones. This reduces wear between the peaks of adjacent folds when the bellows is compressed. The troughs are formed with loops to reduce wear when the bellows is stretched. Various means for securing the bellows in its fixing groove in the housing of the universal joint are also disclosed as are means for incorporating a toothed ring for use in speed measurement for the vehicle's ABS system.

TL;DR: In this article, a reinforced metal bellows flexible hose was found to have a premature burst failure during pressure testing, which was caused by cycling the pressure on the hose and applying a pressure much greater than the yield capabilities of the hose.

TL;DR: In this article, a method and equipment for quantitatively dosing small amounts of liquid, especially in clinical or other similar wet-chemical analyzers, is described, where a liquid space is formed by flexible bellows which are freely movable back and forth to provide the reversible deformations which change the volume of the liquid space.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and equipment for quantitatively dosing small amounts of liquid, especially in clinical or other similar wet-chemical analyzers. The dosing employs a liquid space, the volume of which can be changed and which is connected to a dosing channel so that, by increasing or decreasing the volume of the liquid space, a suction or an injection through the dosing channel is achieved. The liquid space is formed by flexible bellows which are freely movable back and forth to provide the reversible deformations which change the volume of the liquid space. The movements are effected using an actuator which is connected to the bellows without transmissions containing sliding surfaces. The actuator comprises precisely repeatable positions and is calibrated according to the invention by measuring the sizes of the dosages produced by the movements between the positions. The dosing is effected after that by selectively repealing the calibrated movements. The actuator can be formed by a stepper motor, and a cam shaft rotated by the stepper motor propelling the bellows back and forth. The nonlinear interdependent relationship between the rotation of the shaft and the change in the volume of the liquid space makes possible a wide range of calibrated dosage sizes.
