TL;DR: In this article, a method for sealing a stationary drum to the front panel of a front loading washing machine is also provided, whereby the stationary drum is sealed to the rear panel of the washing machine.
Abstract: A bellows ( 44 ) for a front loading washing machine ( 10 ) having a front panel ( 13 ) providing a first channel ( 46 ) having opposed sidewalls ( 50 ), an opening ( 19 ) and a door ( 20 ) carried thereby, and further carrying a stationary drum ( 25 ), providing a second channel ( 48 ), having opposed sidewalls ( 52 ) and a rotatable drum ( 30 ), the bellows comprising an annular body portion ( 45 ) terminating in first and second fastening means ( 54, 56 ); the first fastening means ( 54 ) provided an axially extending rib ( 65 ) having opposed first and second surfaces ( 66, 68 ) and engagable with one of the sidewalls of the first channel; and the second fastening means ( 56 ) provided an axially extending rib ( 70 ) having opposed first and second surfaces ( 74, 75 ) and engagable with one of the sidewalls of the second channel and a radially extending lip ( 80 ) engagable with the door; whereby the stationary drum is sealed to the front panel of the washing machine. A method for sealing a stationary drum ( 25 ) to the front panel ( 13 ) of a front loading washing machine is also provided.

TL;DR: In this article, a micro-bellows packaged implant that transmits stresses on a spiral-shaped piezoelectric transducer that converts mechanical deformations into electric energy is presented.
Abstract: This paper introduces a novel energy harvesting technique and an associated packaged device aimed at powering intracardiac active medical devices by scavenging energy from ordinary blood pressure variations. We present the innovative concept of a micro-bellows packaged implant that deforms due to cyclic blood pressure variations in the cardiac cavities. This bellows transmits stresses on a spiral-shaped piezoelectric transducer that converts mechanical deformations into electric energy. The particular shapes of the different components (bellows and spiral) are designed to dramatically increase the mechanical energy that is harvested. The miniature bellows design, fabrication through electrodeposition for high compliance and hermeticity, and experimental characterization are presented. The specific challenges that arise in spiral shapes piezoelectric harvesters working in bending mode are discussed and we present a method to predict the non-trivial optimal electrode placements for maximum efficiency. This design process is completed by an associated microfabrication method and three types of piezoelectric bimorph spiral samples with doubled-sided microstructured electrode patterns are presented. The experimental performances of these prototypes are confronted to numerical simulation. A power of 4.15 μW/cm3 at 1.5 Hz has been obtained for the best design and we predict that tens of micro-Watts per cubic centimeter could be obtained using similar design process and material.

TL;DR: In this paper, a balloon-shaped structure driving apparatus is presented by which portions of a balloon robot can be moved easily and reliably and weight and cost can be reduced and a discharge/suction selector valve device is used.
Abstract: The present invention provides a balloon-shaped structure driving apparatus by which portions of a balloon-shaped structure can be caused to move easily and reliably and weight and cost can be reduced and a discharge/suction selector valve device. A rotating blade of the discharge/suction selector valve device is rotated to a suction operating position to connect an air outlet and an air flowing hole, to exhaust air from actuators toward a pump device, and to contract a bellows portion. At this time, the actuators pull acting portions of arm portions of a balloon robot main body, the balloon robot main body is bent at allowance portions which can be bent, and the arm portions are forcibly moved down.
