TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe a mechanism by which an article is raised through the application of a SUCTION FORCE, and a series of expansions of the Bellows are used to create a part-time VACUUM.
Abstract: A PNEUMATIC ARRANGEMENT BY WHICH AN ARTICLE IS RAISED THROUGH THE APPLICATION OF A SUCTION FORCE. THE RAISING SUCTION FORCE IS GENERATED THROUGH THE CONTRACTION OF A BELLOWS WHICH EXPELS THE AIR FROM ITS INTERIOR, AND THE SUBSEQUENT EXPANSION OF THE BELLOWS SO AS TO CREATE A PARTIAL VACUUM WITHIN THE INTERIOR. THE BELLOWS IS BROUGHT INTO CONTACT WITH THE ARTICLE TO BE RAISED PRIOR TO THE CONTRACTION AND EXPANSION PROCESS. A SPRING ADJUSTMENT DEVICE PERMITS ADJUSTMENT IN THE SUCTION FORCE SO THAT THE VACUUM WITHIN THE BELLOWS BECOMES NEUTRALIZED WHEN AN ARTICLE HEAVIER THAN A PREDETERMINED WEIGHT ADHERES TO THE BELLOWS. THE VACUUM WITHIN THE BELLOWS IS ALSO GRADUALLY NEUTRALIZED WHEN THE ARTICLE IS TO BE REDEPOSITED AFTER BEING RAISED SO THAT THE DEPOSITING PROCEDURE IS ACCOMPLISHED IN A GRADUAL MANNER FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROTECTING FRAGILE ARTICLES.

TL;DR: In this article, a conduit element is proposed having a bellows and a metallic braided or knit jacket, which is applied to the bellows so that the jacket solely follows substantially the wave crests of the Bellows.
Abstract: In order to obtain optimum absorption and compensation of relative movements in an exhaust gas system while at the same time avoiding a transmission of movement and the occurrence of a resonance phenomena, a conduit element is proposed having a bellows and a metallic braided or knit jacket. The bellows is fashioned as a highly flexible bellows with an all around absorption of movement. The jacket is applied to the bellows so that the jacket solely follows substantially the wave crests of the bellows.

TL;DR: The face seal of a centrifugal pump has a stationary seal component mounted on the pump casing and a rotary seal component rotatable with the drive shaft extending into the casing and connected to the inner rotary pumping member or impeller as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: The face seal of a centrifugal pump has a stationary seal component mounted on the pump casing and a rotary seal component rotatable with the drive shaft extending into the casing and connected to the inner rotary pumping member or impeller. The rotary seal component is biased against the stationary seal component by a resilient welded metal bellows assembly having its end portion opposite the rotary seal component clamped to the drive shaft. To protect the welded metal bellows assembly against abrasive life-shortening contact with particulates in the liquid being pumped, a rigid shroud is provided including a generally cylindrical cavity having an inner wall portion extending close alongside the bellows for at least substantially the full axial extent of the bellows.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe the internal volume bounded by the bellows, where a directed air flow is formed by the relative movement of parts and the air inlet and outlet opening.
Abstract: The bellows (9) covers the protruding section of the piston and is arranged between the end of the piston and the cylinder. The interior of the bellows undergoes a volume change as a result of the relative movement of parts and has at least one air inlet and outlet opening. The air inlet (15) and outlet (17) open into the internal volume (11) bounded by the bellows, whereby a directed air flow is formed.

TL;DR: In this article, a fail-safe bellows assembly eliminates the usual limit bolts and replaces them with a cylindrical guard that encircles the bellows element with its associated coupling flanges and interconnects said flanges so as to permit a limited safe magnitude of elongation and articulation.
Abstract: A fail-safe bellows assembly eliminates the usual limit bolts and replaces them with a cylindrical guard that encircles the bellows element with its associated coupling flanges and interconnects said flanges so as to permit a limited safe magnitude of elongation and articulation. The guard is connected to one of said flanges, with a coupling or linking to the other flange that permits the desired safe freedom of movement. In one embodiment one of the flanges has the guard clamped to its periphery while the other flange couples to the guard with pins and apertures. Another embodiment uses pins projecting radially inwardly from the guard at one end, replacing the pins in the flange and cooperating apertures in the guard. In addition to the guards, an elastic sleeve is joined to the periphery of each flange with a fluid-tight seal, and a vent passage through one flange interconnects the inter-flange space with the exterior for safe discharge of any fluid escaping from the bellows element.
