TL;DR: In this article, a vertically oriented bellows has a fixed plate at one end and a movable plate at the other end, and the plates are interconnected by an adjustable spring urging the plates toward each other when the bellows are expanded to simulate lung compliance.
Abstract: A vertically oriented bellows has a fixed plate at one end and a movable plate at the other end. As air flows into the bellows, the movable plate pivots relative to the fixed plate and the free end thereof is cooperative with a readout panel to indicate the volume of the bellows. The plates are interconnected by an adjustable spring urging the plates toward each other when the bellows are expanded to simulate lung compliance. Selected tubes having calibrated flow characteristics interconnect the bellows to a lung ventilator to simulate lung resistance. Preferably, a pair of bellows are arranged in mutual association together to simulate a pair of lungs in order to analyze their interdependency.

TL;DR: In this paper, a foam dispenser includes a foam pump communicating with the contents of a container holding a foamable liquid, and an air port extends through the pump body and communicates with the outlet stage.
Abstract: A foam dispenser includes a foam pump communicating with the contents of a container holding a foamable liquid. The foam pump includes a pump body, a passage extending through the pump body from an inlet to an outlet, an inlet valve including an inlet flow regulator, and an outlet valve including an outlet flow regulator. The inlet receives foamable liquid from the container. The inlet valve and outlet valve are positioned in the passage to define (a) an inlet stage, (b) an outlet stage, and (c) a transition stage. A liquid port extends through the pump body and communicates with the transition stage, and an air port extends through the pump body and communicates with the outlet stage. A liquid bellows surrounds the liquid port and an air bellows surrounds the air port. The liquid bellows contains the foamable liquid and is movable between an expanded volume and a contracted volume, and expels at least a portion of the foamable liquid to the passage through the liquid port when moved from its expanded volume to its contracted volume. The air bellows contains air and is movable between an expanded volume and a contracted volume, and expels at least a portion of the air to the passage through the air port when moved from its expanded volume to its contracted volume.

TL;DR: In this paper, a tube-shaped resin film not allowing fluid to pass is disposed on the internal surface of the bellows type outer tube and both axial end parts of that film are connected liquid-tightly to the connecting path end parts.
Abstract: An expansion joint device, wherein both ends of an axially extendable bellows type outer tube (31) are connected liquid-tightly to a pair of connecting path end parts (20) so as to form an extendable path part (30), a tube-shaped resin film (33) not allowing fluid to pass is disposed on the internal surface of the bellows type outer tube (31), both axial end parts of that film are connected liquid-tightly to the connecting path end parts, and a tube-shaped part (34) located at the intermediate part of the tube-shaped resin film (33) covers liquid-tightly the inner surface of the bellows type outer tube (31), whereby it is prevented that the fluid flowing through the inside or foreign matter contained in the fluid remains in the inner peripheral surface recessed part of the bellows type outer tube (31) so as to ensure the sanitation and quality maintainability of the expansion joint device and, in addition to or instead of the bellows type outer tube (31), the inside and outside sleeves are overlapped slidably with each other so as to also form an expansion outer tube.

TL;DR: In this article, a coarse/fine dual positioning stage for single degree of freedom using pneumatic actuators is developed, where the coarse stage is driven by a pneumatically driven cylinder with air bearings, and the fine stage is controlled by a nozzle-flapper type servo valve.
Abstract: In this paper, a coarse/fine dual positioning stage for single degree of freedom using pneumatic actuators is developed. The coarse movement utilizes a pneumatic cylinder with air bearings. The fine movement utilizes an actuator driven by pneumatic bellows. A high-performance pneumatic servo valve, we have developed, having high dynamics up to 300 Hz is used to control the coarse stage. The fine stage is controlled with a nozzle-flapper type servo valve. The fine stage is mounted on the coarse stage. As the proposed coarse/fine dual stage is pneumatically driven, the stage has advantages of low heat generation and non-magnetic those are suitable for ultra precise positioning. The control method of the dual stage is proposed. The experimental results demonstrated that the steady state error is less than 5 μm for 100 mm stroke with the coarse stage and it is minimize to 20 nm with the fine stage.
