TL;DR: In this article, the first pass of radial- rotary profiling of wheel crowns is used to determine the normal and shear stresses at bending radius of profiling roll while shaping and on stretching edge of die body while drawing.
Abstract: There considered questions concerning determination of stress field during form alteration of wheel crowns from steel cylindrical works at the first pass of radial- rotary profiling. There also fulfilled process analysis of drawing process of cylindrical pieces made of sheet metal. Determination of stresses at bending radius of profiling roll while shaping and on stretching edge of die body while drawing is of great interest, as coupling areas of various profile elements of crown are the most loaded and on the value of meridian stress depends the possibility of getting of high-quality piece per stretching pass. Results of theoretical research allow to analyze stresses, which arise while deforming, and determine group of technological and constructional parameters of profiling and stretching process, which affect greatly the value and distribution of normal and shear stresses.

TL;DR: In this article, a bend die is rotated 180° to make a bend, an upper section of the bend die was split from a lower section, and the upper section was then rotated approximately 90° to vacate a region directly above the lower section.
Abstract: Method and apparatus for bending metal tubes such as for furnace heat exchangers After the bend die is rotated 180° to make a bend, an upper section of the bend die is split from a lower section, and the upper section is then rotated approximately 90° In such manner, a portion of the upper section is displaced laterally to vacate a region directly above the lower section Therefore, in moving the tube forwardly to a new location for a subsequent bend operation, a portion of a previous bend passes through the vacated region thereby enabling sequential bend angles that are less restricted than without rotating the upper section of the split die

TL;DR: In this paper, a series of pipes with different bend radii were investigated experimentally and with numerical simulation (Finite Element) with both longitudinal and torsional excitation, numerical and experimental tests performed showed mode conversion due to the presence of the bend.
Abstract: This paper summarizes recent work aimed at improving the understanding of Lamb wave propagation through pipes with bends. A series of pipes with different bend radii were investigated experimentally and with numerical simulation (Finite Element). With both longitudinal and torsional excitation, numerical and experimental tests performed showed mode conversion due to the presence of the bend. The influence of both the bend radius and the bend length on the transmission of the incident wave is shown.

TL;DR: In this paper, a mass fluid flow sensor for determining the amount of fluid inducted into an internal combustion engine, for example, is disclosed, which includes an external intake fluid temperature element which improves the accuracy of the mass fluid reading.
Abstract: A mass fluid flow sensor for determining the amount of fluid inducted into an internal combustion engine, for example, is disclosed. The mass fluid flow sensor includes an external intake fluid temperature element which improves the accuracy of the mass fluid reading. An external cold wire element is further provided which improves response time. The mass fluid flow sensor has an improved aerodynamic design which provides a lower system pressure drop. A molded one-piece isolated jet nozzle having a hot element disposed therein is included in a fluid sampling portion. The fluid sampling portion has a tubular sampling channel, wherein the sampling channel has one bend having a constant bend radius. Consequently, an improved lower internal flow passage pressure drop is achieved. Additionally, an improved signal to noise ratio, as well as a larger dynamic range is an advantageous consequence of the present invention. A three surface contact seal is provided between the sensor housing and an intake duct to further enhance the vibrational characteristics of the sensor.

TL;DR: The sensitivity of a buried electrostatically charged cable transducer to mechanical disturbances caused by men, vehicles and the like moving on the surface of the ground is greatly improved by disposing the cable loosely in a coextensive rigid hollow member such as a tube as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: The sensitivity of a buried electrostatically charged cable transducer, such as an electret cable, to mechanical disturbances caused by men, vehicles and the like moving on the surface of the ground is greatly improved by disposing the cable loosely in a coextensive rigid hollow member such as a tube. The inside dimension of the tube is larger than the outside diameter of the cable, the cable being supported on the inner surface of the tube at longitudinally randomly spaced points. The cable is thus free to move radially relative to the tube in response to pressure waves or vibrations propagating through the ground and incident on the exterior of the tube so as to bend, twist, compress and/or otherwise stress the cable and generate corresponding electrical signals between the inner and outer conductors of the cable. The enclosing tube forms no part of the electrical circuit and accordingly may be and preferably is made of low cost nonconductive plastic material; with such a non-conductive tube, the outer jacket or covering of the cable may be omitted so as to further increase energy coupling efficiency between the tube and cable and thus increase the transducer sensitivity. The plastic tube additionally constitutes an effective moisture-proof corrosion-resistant seal for the cable. The cable may be the coaxial type or the twisted line type with the dielectric between the conductors being electrostatically charged.
