TL;DR: A combination hand-powered bending apparatus and edge bending radius pin assembly specifically adapted to bend flat stock in the edgewise plane is described in this paper. This combination provides a means whereby flat stock of varying thickness and width can be clamped in the apparatus by the edge bending radial pin assembly element and bent in the edge plane to varying angles.

TL;DR: In this paper, a high pressure hose construction and method of and apparatus for making the same is disclosed wherein the hose construction has a smooth walled inner liner of resilient polymeric material, and an adhesive layer, which may also be of polymeric materials bonded to the liner.
Abstract: A high pressure hose construction and method of and apparatus for making the same is disclosed wherein the hose construction has a smooth walled inner liner of resilient polymeric material, and an adhesive layer, which may also be of polymeric material bonded to the liner. A braided cover is disposed over the entire layer and embedded therein. This braided cover is comprised of a plurality of elongated intermeshing strands of non-metallic fibers, such as yarn, and metallic fibers. Preferably, every three strands are of flexible, non-metallic fibers, such as nylon fibers, and every fourth strand is of metallic fiber, such as piano wire or spring steel. One set of strands crosses over and under another set to produce an intermeshing or weaving effect. These strands may also extend in a direction at an angle, such as 45° or 53°, to the longitudinal axes of the liner, to improve the bend radius and prevent ballooning or extensions or the like of the finished hose construction when used in high pressure applications.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of varying circumferential and angular position along the pipe bend, as well as the influence of the bend radius, is investigated via 3D finite element simulations.
Abstract: This paper investigates the reflection of the torsional T(0,1) mode from defects in pipe bends. The effect of varying circumferential and angular position along the pipe bend, as well as the influence of the bend radius, is investigated via 3D finite element simulations. The results show that the reflection expected from a small defect varies significantly with position, the minimum reflection coefficient being about 10% of that from a comparable defect in a straight pipe, while maxima of around four times the straight pipe value are seen. The areas of low detectability are mainly found on the bend intrados and those of high detectability close to its extrados; similar effects are seen in bends with radii varying from one to twenty pipe diameters. It is shown that the reflection from a defect at a given location is roughly proportional to the square of the von Mises stress produced by the transmitted wave at that position. This holds for defects such as circumferential cracks, the detailed subject of this investigation, and is also expected to be valid for corrosion patches; it will not hold for axial cracks. The results explain the low reflection seen from a simulated corrosion defect at a bend in a previous investigation.

TL;DR: A cable management bracket for a telecommunications rack is described in this article, where a plurality of fingers project outwardly from the elongated member, spaced apart along the length of the member.
Abstract: A cable management bracket for a telecommunications rack. The bracket includes an elongated member having a length sized to extend across a width of the rack. A plurality of fingers project outwardly from the elongated member. The fingers are spaced apart along the length of the elongated member. Gaps sized to receive telecommunications cables are positioned between the fingers. Bend radius limiters are preferably connected to the fingers to prevent cables passing through the gaps from being bent beyond predetermined bend radius requirements.

TL;DR: In this article, a new bending device was developed which allows continuous change of the bending radius of the BSCCO tape sample at 77 K and a simultaneous measurement of the critical currents.
Abstract: A new bending device was developed which allows continuous change of the bending radius of the BSCCO tape sample at 77 K and a simultaneous measurement of the critical currents. The samples are mounted free between two clamps. The special geometry of the arrangement insures over the whole range a sample shape with homogeneous curvature on a circle line without the help of mechanical parts. This bending strain rig avoids effects from additional thermal stresses due to the cooling from room temperature (bending) to 77 K (critical current measurement). We mainly present measurements on different Ag/AgMg sheathed standard conductors. The results obtained with the new method will be compared for some selected samples with the bending strain behavior measured in the conventional way, applying the bent at RT. The potential of the method being suitable for standardized bending experiments will be discussed.
