TL;DR: In this article, the intramolecular cycloaddition of o-quinomethanes generated in situ from o-hydroxybenzaldehydes and unsaturated alcohol in the presence of trimethyl orthoformate was investigated.
Abstract: Elemental iodine has been utilized as an efficient catalyst for the intramolecular[4 + 2]cycloaddition of o-quinomethanes generated in situ from o-hydroxybenzaldehydes and unsaturated alcohol in the presence of trimethyl orthoformate to afford the corresponding trans-annelated pyrano[3,2-c]benzopyrans in high yields with high diastereoselectivity

TL;DR: In this paper, the synthesis of biologically interesting ( −)-cannabichromene, (−)-daurichromenic acid, and −-cannabeachromene is described.
Abstract: Total synthesis of biologically interesting (′)-cannabichromene, (′)-cannabichromenic acid, and (′)-daurichromenic acid is described. The key step in the synthetic strategy involves the formation of benzopyrans by ethylenediamine diacetate-catalyzed reactions of resorcinols with α,β-unsaturated aldehydes.

01 Jan 2022TL;DR: In this article , the most recent data on theoretical methods, experimental structural methods, thermodynamic aspects regarding this class of compounds are also covered, particularly the latest developments on the reactivity of pyrans, benzopyrans and major derivatives, particularly in the last 10 years.
Abstract: Oxygen-containing six-membered heterocycles, constitute a large family of compounds widespread in both natural and synthetic compounds. These include 2H-pyrans, 4H-pyrans, pyrylium salts, pyran-2-ones, pyran-4-ones and their benzo analogs. The reduced pyrans and pyrones as well as their benzo derivatives are also covered. Several of these compounds exhibit interesting biological activity and thus, have drawn considerable attention from the chemical community. In particular, the structure, properties, reactivity and synthesis of these compounds have been extensively investigated. This article focuses on the most recent data on theoretical methods, experimental structural methods, thermodynamic aspects regarding this class of compounds. The latest developments on the reactivity of pyrans, benzopyrans and major derivatives, particularly in the last 10 years, is also covered. Indeed, incredible efforts have been dedicated to the discovery of novel methodologies to functionalize compounds from this class, ranging from photocatalysis to metal-catalyzed methods. The reactivity at ring atoms and substituents is highlighted.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors defined a formula (I) wherein A, n, R1, R2 and R3 are as defined in this paper, where A is a c-substituted CR4R5-COOR13 compound by reaction with a trimethylsilyl ketene acetal.
Abstract: Benzopyran and other benzo-fused leukotriene B4 antagonists have formula (I) wherein A, n, R1, R2 and R3 are as defined herein. The compounds of formula (I) wherein R1 is c-substituted CR4R5-COOR13 may be prepared from the corresponding c-substituted CF3SO3 compound by reaction with a trimethylsilyl ketene acetal.
