TL;DR: In this article, the synthesis and photochromic properties of 6,7- and 7,8-benzoindene annellated benzopyrans are described and compared to parent indeno-fused 2H-chromenes.
Abstract: The synthesis and the photochromic properties of new photochromic 6,7- and 7,8-benzoindene annellated benzopyrans are described. When compared to parent indeno-fused 2H-chromenes (2H-[1]benzopyrans), compounds 10 and 12 exhibit a significant bathochromic shift of maximum-absorption wavelength, an increase in the colorability, and similar fading rates.

06 Sep 1991TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a method of treating a viral infection using compounds represented by Formula 1.0: ##STR1## and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts and solvates, which are useful as antihypertensive agents and useful as antiviral agents against DNA-containing viruses.
Abstract: Compounds useful as antihypertensive agents and useful as antiviral agents against DNA-containing viruses, such as herpes group viruses, are disclosed. The compounds are represented by Formula 1.0: ##STR1## and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts and solvates. Pharmaceutical compositions containing compounds represented by Formula 1.0 are disclosed. Methods of treating a viral infection using compounds represented by Formula 1.0 are disclosed. Also disclosed are methods of treating hypertension using compounds of Formula 1.0 wherein R is selected from the group consisting of H, halogen and --C(O)OR6 ; and R1 is selected from the group consisting of --OR14, --O(CH2)a C(H)3-i Zi and --O(CH2)h N(R15)2.

16 Nov 1981TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present methods of use for known pharmacological anti-allergenic agents including disodiumchromoglycate (DSCG) and related compounds thereof, including generally bis chromones, benzopyrans, oxamic acids and salts or esters of each, preferably lodoxamide, its THAM salt and ethyl ester.
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel methods of use for known pharmacological anti-allergenic agents including disodiumchromoglycate (DSCG) and related compounds thereof, including generally bis chromones, benzopyrans, oxamic acids and salts or esters of each, preferably lodoxamide, its THAM salt and ethyl ester. All are subsequently included in the term biologues. The methods are for the treatment of pathological cardiovascular ischemic states in animals, particularly humans. Additionally, novel compositions including the biologues of the present invention in combination with known vasodilators and feed stuffs are also disclosed.
