TL;DR: In this paper, the symmetry group of a nonlinear crystal is revealed by the observation of the spatial angular dependence of the lower frequency generated light, which provides direct information about the symmetry groups of the crystal.
Abstract: We put forward a technique to unveil to which symmetry group a nonlinear crystal belongs, making use of nonlinear optics with structured light. We consider as example the process of spontaneous parametric down-conversion. The crystal, which is illuminated with a special type of Bessel beam, is characterized by a nonlinear susceptibility tensor whose structure is dictated by the symmetry group of the crystal. The observation of the spatial angular dependence of the lower-frequency generated light provides direct information about the symmetry group of the crystal.

TL;DR: In this paper, the subwavelength annular apertures (SAA) made on metallic layers by electron beam lithography with metal lift-off processes have been demonstrated.
Abstract: The subwavelength annular apertures (SAA) made on metallic layers by electron beam lithography with metal lift-off processes have been demonstrated. We have experimentally enhanced the Bessel beam distance through the SAA structure with large diameters.

TL;DR: The arrayed-waveguide deflector for 3D light beam steering is described in this article, where the proposed structure with a 2D waveguide is suitable for using the electrooptic effect.
Abstract: The arrayed-waveguide deflector for 3-D light beam steering is described. The proposed structure with a 2-D waveguide is suitable for using the electrooptic effect. The device can also generate a light beam with phase singularity. Its usage is expected to find many applications including measurement and information processing. When the device is used to implement an N channel large-scale optical switch, only a 3N1/2 waveguide array is required for a phaser. Fast beam steering will lead to new field of applications impossible with conventional devices.
