TL;DR: It is proved that a (finite) semigroup is positively ordered if and only if it is a homomorphic image, under an order-preserving homomorphism, of a ( finite) Semigroup of languages.
Abstract: A semigroup of languages is a set of languages considered with (and closed under) the operation of catenation. In other words, semigroups of languages are subsemigroups of power-semigroups of free semigroups. We prove that a (finite) semigroup is positively ordered if and only if it is a homomorphic image, under an order-preserving homomorphism, of a (finite) semigroup of languages. Hence it follows that a finite semigroup is -trivial if and only if it is a homomorphic image of a finite semigroup of languages.

TL;DR: In this article, conditions for a congruence on a general semigroup (with E(S) a subsemigroup, resp.) are given, which ensure that Lallement's result holds.
Abstract: G. Lallement [5] proved that every idem potent congruence class of a regular semigroup contains an idem potent. P. Edwards [4] generalized this property of congruences to eventually regular semigroups. Using the natural partial order of the semigroup (see [6]) a weakened version of this result will be proved for the more general class of E-inversive semigroups. But for particular congruences the original result of Lallement still holds for every E-inversive semigroup. Finally, conditions for a congruence on a general semigroup (with E(S) a subsemigroup, resp.) are given, which ensure that Lallement's result holds.

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that a given pair (A, B) generates a B-bounded semigroup if and only if in a certain extrapolation space related to the operator B, the closure of A generates a semigroup.
Abstract: In [3]A. Bellini-Morante defined and analysed a new one-parameter family of bounded operators which he called a B-bounded semigroup. The definition was motivated by an example from the transport theory where the evolution generated by an operator A was in a certain sense controlled by another operator B. In this paper we show that a given pair (A, B) generates a B-bounded semigroup if and only if in a certain extrapolation space related to the operator B, the closure of A generates a semigroup and we also address some related topics.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors study four notions of conjugacy for semigroups, their interconnections, similarities and dissimilarities, and a large list of open problems.
Abstract: The action of any group on itself by conjugation and the corresponding conjugacy relation play an important role in group theory. There have been many attempts to find notions of conjugacy in semigroups that would be useful in special classes of semigroups occurring in various areas of mathematics, such as semigroups of matrices, operator and topological semigroups, free semigroups, transition monoids for automata, semigroups given by presentations with prescribed properties, monoids of graph endomorphisms, etc. In this paper we study four notions of conjugacy for semigroups, their interconnections, similarities and dissimilarities. They appeared originally in various different settings (automata, representation theory, presentations or transformation semigroups). Here we study them in maximum generality. The paper ends with a large list of open problems.

TL;DR: In this paper, a necessary and sufficient condition for a restriction semigroup to be embeddable in a W-product of a semilattice by a monoid is provided.
Abstract: A necessary and sufficient condition is provided for a (two-sided) restriction semigroup to be embeddable in a W-product of a semilattice by a monoid.
