TL;DR: A novel local spatial filtering framework named as the guided trilateral filter (GTF) to implement restoration of a noisy image with a well-fitting statistical distribution model is proposed and demonstrated that the GTDF not only can achieve superior performance against state of the art methods, but also has fast and robust convergence and parameter setting insensitivity.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a method for detecting an object on a pixel plane in a digital image sequence, which involves determining two dimensional (2D) position of relevant pixels within an image recording and assigning a distance value to each pixel.
Abstract: The method involves determining two dimensional (2D) position of relevant pixels within an image recording and assigning a distance value to each pixel. The pixels are localized in another image recording. The 2D position or adjustment of the pixels and the value are again assigned to each pixel. The position and movement of relevant pixels are determined by a filter. The pixels are combined to objects under given terms and conditions. An independent claim is also included for an application of a method for detecting an object on a pixel plane in a digital image sequence.

TL;DR: In this paper, half pixels in vertical and horizontal directions are computed by applying a filter of first complexity on integer pixels, and a half pixel in diagonal direction is computed using a filter with lower complexity as compared to the filter with first complexity.
Abstract: Reducing computational complexity when generating sub-pixel values for sub-pixel motion estimation from integer pixels. In an embodiment, half pixels in vertical and horizontal directions are computed by a applying a filter of first complexity on integer pixels, and a half pixel in diagonal direction is computed using a filter of lower complexity as compared to the filter of first complexity. Quarter (and other lower resolution pixels) pixels may also be generated using the half pixel in the diagonal direction. Thus, overall computational complexity is reduced in generating sub-pixels for sub-pixel motion estimation.

TL;DR: Experimental results show that the proposed scheme improves the visual quality of ultrasound images by suppressing the speckle noise while retaining edges.
Abstract: Speckle is a random multiplicative noise which obscures the perception and extraction of fine details in ultrasound images and speckle reduction is necessary to improve the visual quality of ultrasound images for better diagnosis This study aims at introducing an algorithm by hybridizing bilateral filter with NeighShrink The bilateral filter is applied before decomposition and after reconstruction of the image using discrete wavelet transform to improve the denoising efficiency and preserve the edge features effectively The wavelet thresholding scheme NeighShrink is used for thresholding of wavelet coefficients The algorithm is tested with synthetically speckled and real ultrasound images Quality evaluation metrics such as Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR), Edge Preservation Index (EPI) and Correlation Coefficient (CoC) are used to assess the performance of the proposed method Experimental results show that the proposed scheme improves the visual quality of ultrasound images by suppressing the speckle noise while retaining edges
