TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the nucleation and growth in unary and binary systems in the framework of the phase-field theory and found that the critical undercoolings predicted for a simple binary system are close to experiment.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used the Redlich-Kister expression for the Gibbs energies of the solution phases, adopting three-sublattice models for γ and η′, and assuming stoichiometric compounds for other intermetallic phases.
Abstract: On the basis of thermodynamic properties and phase diagram data, the Cu-In binary system was thermodynamically assessed. The phases in this system were modeled using the Redlich-Kister expression for the Gibbs energies of the solution phases, adopting three-sublattice models for γ and η′, and assuming stoichiometric compounds for other intermetallic phases. Then a set of consistent parameters was obtained by the CALPHAD method, by which reasonable agreement can be realized between the thermodynamic properties for various phases and phase relations of this system.

TL;DR: In this paper, a long-term spectroscopic monitoring of the O-type star 9 Sgr was conducted to investigate its multiplicity and search for evidence for wind-wind interactions.
Abstract: Context. The O-type object 9 Sgr is a well-known synchrotron radio emitter. This feature is usually attributed to colliding-wind binary systems, but 9 Sgr was long considered a single star. Aims. We have conducted a long-term spectroscopic monitoring of this star to investigate its multiplicity and search for evidence for wind-wind interactions. Methods. Radial velocities are determined and analysed using various period search methods. Spectral disentangling is applied to separate the spectra of the components of the binary system. Results. We derive the first ever orbital solution of 9 Sgr. The system is found to consist of an O3.5 V((f + )) primary and an O5-5.5 V((f)) secondary moving around each other on a highly eccentric (e = 0.7), 8.6 year orbit. The spectra reveal no variable emission lines that could be formed in the wind interaction zone in agreement with the expected properties of the interaction in such aw ide system. Conclusions. Our results provide further support to the paradigm of synchrotron radio emission from early-type stars being a manifestation of interacting winds in a binary system.

TL;DR: In this paper, the Pd-Te system has been investigated by differential thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction, electron probe microanalysis and reflected light microscopy, and phase relations in the 0-50 at.% Te portion of the binary system are proposed.
Abstract: The Pd-Te system has been investigated by differential thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction, electron probe microanalysis and reflected light microscopy. New phase relations in the 0–50 at.% Te portion of the binary system are proposed. Eight binary phases exist in the system: Pd17Te4, Pd20Te7, Pd8Te3, Pd7Te3, Pd9Te4, Pd3Te2, PdTe and PdTe2. Of these, Pd7Te3 is a newly reported phase. Pd17Te4 is cubic, space group Fd3c, with a = 12.678(5) A . The X-ray powder data of Pd8Te3, indexed on an orthorhombic cell, give a = 12.843 (3), b = 15.126 (3), c = 11.304(2) A and those of Pd7Te3, indexed on a monoclinic cell, give a = 7.444(1), b = 13.918(2), c = 8.873(2) A , β = 92.46(2)°. Some physical and optical properties of synthetic phases in the system are also reported.
