TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss techniques for improving the system security with respect to the minimum singular value index (SVI) and present a continuation technique that redistributes the system generation to the optimal operating condition.
Abstract: The problem of system collapse or blackout characterized by a local severe voltage depression is generally believed to be associated with inadequate VAR support at key busses. The authors discuss techniques for improving the system security with respect to this index. The effect of adding capacitors are examined. They also present a continuation technique that redistributes the system generation to the optimal operating condition with respect to the minimum singular value index. >

TL;DR: In this article, an apparatus and method for switching video signals from input lines to output lines is presented. But it is not shown how to select the blackout start time and the blackout stop time.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for switching video signals from input lines to output lines. A control device selectively sets a blackout start time and a blackout stop time. A first comparator compares the blackout start time with actual time and a second comparator compares the blackout stop time with actual time. A switch is provided for connecting the input lines to output lines and for disconnecting the input lines from the output lines. The switch is responsive to the first comparator to disconnect all input lines from all output lines when the actual time equals the blackout start time. The switch is also responsive to the second comparator to reconnect the input lines to the output lines when the actual time equals the blackout stop time.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a method to determine whether a power switch is turned on or off by an input signal sent within a prescribed period from off of an external switch of microcomputer power voltage.
Abstract: PURPOSE: To prevent error operation and improve reliability of multifunctional lighting system controlling apparatus by making it possible to determine whether blackout or situation switching by an input signal sent within a prescribed period from off of an external switch of microcomputer power voltage. CONSTITUTION: When a switch 3 is turned on within a signal receiving period shorter than a voltage retaining period of a voltage retaining circuit 11 since the external switch 3 is turned off, the d.c. current powder input is read as a sequence control signal to alter lighting condition of a lighting system by a microcomputer 6 and the switch 3 can thus be used just like a pull-switch 2 by turning the switch 3 on-off within a short time. If a signal is not put in from a blackout detecting circuit 12 after a signal receiving period passes, the microcomputer concludes that blackout occurs and stops operation. A conventional reset circuit 13 is also installed in the microcomputer 6 so as to surely prevent error operation by doubled stopping means. COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio
