TL;DR: In this paper, a relation model of feeder improvement measure investment and reliable improved effects (for reducing household weigh at blackout) including annular grid improvement, segment switch increasing, superterranean moved cables and the like is built with feeders serving as units.
Abstract: The invention discloses a method of building a reliable improved effect relation between investment on a power grid and power supply Firstly, a relation model of feeder improvement measure investment and reliable improved effects (for reducing household weigh at blackout) including annular grid improvement, segment switch increasing, superterranean moved cables and the like is built with feeders serving as units A cost and benefit analyzing method is used for estimating all effects of improvement measures and finally, a reliable relation model of the investment on the power grid and power supply is set up With the method of building the reliable improved effect relation between the investment on the power grid and power supply, parameter variation of a feeder grid frame and improved household number in blackout corresponding to reliable parameter variation can be rapidly and effectively estimated, a good indicating effect can be exerted on a reliable improvement scheme on the power grid, a complicated power grid reliability estimating process is avoided, excellent reference values can be provided for arrangement of improvement of the power grid in a macroscopic mode and obtaining of the reliable level of the most proper power grid

TL;DR: The authors propose an additional simple and reliable tool that would allow for turning off such a collapse, with fast self-restoration of normal operating condition within only ~100 seconds.
Abstract: Blackouts of power systems occur in transmission networks (TNs) as the result of dangerous emergency overloading. These are followed by cascade tripping of transmission lines and power plants and, finally, by collapse of a power system. Since the known automatic emergency protection means are insufficiently universal, the authors propose an additional simple and reliable tool that would allow for turning off such a collapse, with fast self-restoration of normal operating condition within only ~100 seconds.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors deal with structural analysis and 3-phase fault current stability of the future Seoul metropolitan power system in Korea and propose an algorithm for application of Voltage Sourced Converter Back-to-Back High Voltage Direct Current (VSC BTB HVDC) is being proposed.
Abstract: Power system operators deal with the fault current problems seriously, because the large scale fault current not only cause many side effects to the facilities of power system but also lead to severe problems such as blackout. This paper deals with structural analysis and 3-phase fault current stability of the future Seoul metropolitan power system in Korea. Simulation composition and analysis were performed with the 4th Korea Electric & Power Cooperation (KEPCO) power supply planning data using PSS/e. Through the results of simulation, future Seoul metropolitan system has a problem, enormous fault current, which exceeds circuit breaker (CB) rate. This fault current can cause critical damage to power system. To resolve this problem, the algorithm for application of Voltage Sourced Converter Back-to-Back High Voltage Direct Current (VSC BTB HVDC) is being proposed. In the case study, this paper shows most suitable location for solving fault current problem in Seoul metropolitan area.

TL;DR: It is possible to prevent a blackout by fixing the emergency epicentre and blocking the development of cascading events and power plant outages, thus transforming severe emergency into a short transient process.
Abstract: Recent blackouts of major power systems (PSs) clearly demonstrate the topicality of the blackout problem The situation is further complicated by the necessity for PSs to survive under the competition and uncertain conditions Based on the detailed blackout analysis, the dangerous overload of transmission grid is held as a key element giving start to the development of many cascading processes Therefore, paying major attention to the overload as to the primary event, it is possible to prevent a blackout by fixing the emergency epicentre and blocking the development of cascading events and power plant outages For the purpose of dangerous overload elimination the short-term splitting of power system can be used, followed by automatic restoration to normal operating conditions, thus transforming severe emergency into a short transient process
