TL;DR: In this article, a propeller pitch control system with a mechanical low pitch stop and an electrical backup consisting of an electrically operatable means (245) to effect blade pitch adjustment toward feather is described.
Abstract: A propeller pitch control system having a mechanical low pitch stop which includes an electrical backup therefor. The backup comprises an electrically operatable means (245) to effect blade pitch adjustment toward feather under conditions of failure of the low pitch stop indicated by propeller operation at pitch angles in the range of beta operation, but power settings in the range of normal engine speed governor pitch control. Such operating conditions actuate a pair of switches (190 and 195) connecting the means (245) to a voltage source to increase blade pitch toward feather, thereby preventing overspeed operation of the propeller.

TL;DR: In this article, the influence of turbine inlet temperature distortion (hot streaks) from both blade aeromechanical (forced vibration) and aerothermal (heat transfer) viewpoints is investigated.
Abstract: A computational analysis is carried out on the influence of turbine inlet temperature distortion (hot streaks) from both blade aeromechanical (forced vibration) and aerothermal (heat transfer) viewpoints. Analysis of hot streaks with variable circumferential lengths, corresponding to different numbers of combustion burners, shows that the circumferential wavelength of the temperature distortion can significantly change unsteady forcing and the heat load on rotor blades. When the hot-streak wavelength is the same as the nozzle-guide-vane blade pitch, there is a strong dependence of the preferential heating on the relative clocking position between the hot streak and nozzle-guide-vane blade. However, this clocking dependence is shown to be qualitatively weakened for the cases with fewer hot streaks with longer circumferential wavelengths.

TL;DR: In this article, a hydroelectric turbine generator and control system is provided that optimizes the maximum possible power output at all times by strictly monitoring power output from the generator unit and modulating the wicket gate angle and the runner blade pitch independently of one another.
Abstract: A hydroelectric turbine generator and control system is provided that optimizes the maximum possible power output at all times by strictly monitoring power output from the generator unit and modulating the wicket gate angle and the runner blade pitch independently of one another. The hydroelectric turbine generator includes a means for separately controlling wicket gate angle and runner blade pitch. The wicket gate angle control mechanism controls the flow into the system, pre conditions flow for maximum power and maintains reservoir level. The runner blade pitch control mechanism continuously monitors the system power output based on actual power produced, and adjusts system parameters in order to achieve maximum power output.
