TL;DR: The gills of Periophthalms chrysospilos exhibited significantly greater pyruvate kinase and lactate dehydrogenase activities than those of Boleophthalmus boddaerti under the control and hypoxic conditions.
Abstract: The gills of Periophthalmus chrysospilos exhibited significantly greater pyruvate kinase and lactate dehydrogenase activities than those of Boleophthalmus boddaerti (P <001) Under the control normoxic condition, the branchial lactate content of the former mudskipper was also significantly greater (P < 001) than that of the latter After hypoxic exposure, lactate and alanine accumulated in the gills of P chrysospilos but not B boddaerti Succinate and propionate were not detected in the gills of these two mudskippers under the control and hypoxic conditions

TL;DR: Boleophthalmus poti, new species, is described from the Gulf of Papua, Papua New Guinea by a combination of characters, including un-notched, fl attened and horizontally disposed dentary teeth.
Abstract: Boleophthalmus poti, new species, is described from the Gulf of Papua, Papua New Guinea. It is distinguished from its congeners by a combination of characters, including: un-notched, fl attened and horizontally disposed dentary teeth; pelvic-disc length ~10% of SL; D1 base length ~15% of SL; D2 base length ~40% of SL; ~5 interdorsal scale rows; ~110 lateral-scale rows; and the shape and colour pattern of the fi rst and second dorsal fi ns.

TL;DR: In this article, the toxicity of mercuric chloride on gill ATPases in the mudskipper, Boleophthalmus dentatus, was investigated and the results showed that the inhibition increased with increasing HgCl2 concentrations as well as exposure durations.
Abstract: The present paper deals with the toxicity of mercuric chloride on gill ATPases in the mudskipper, Boleophthalmus dentatus. Fishes were exposed to four sublethal concentrations of mercuric chloride for three durations. The activity of total, Na+, K+; Ca2+; Mg2+; Ca2+; HCO3−; Mg2+, HCO3−-ATPases was estimated. Results showed inhibition of almost all the enzymes in all concentrations for all durations of exposure. The inhibition increased with increasing HgCl2 concentrations as well as exposure durations. This inhibition probably blocked the transport of substances across the membrane by active transport and brought a total failure of the osmoregulatory mechanism in gills.
