TL;DR: In this paper, the formation of metal atoms near the cathode and their nucleation in a buffer gas flow are discussed, and the factors determining the output parameters of the cluster beam escaping the magnetron chamber are analyzed.
Abstract: Magnetron plasma processes involving metal atoms and clusters are reviewed. The formation of metal atoms near the cathode and their nucleation in a buffer gas flow are discussed. The flow of a buffer gas with metal clusters through a magnetron chamber disturbs the equilibrium between the buffer gas flow and clusters near the exit orifice and is accompanied by cluster attachment to the chamber walls. Cluster charging far off the cathode, the disturbance of equilibrium between the buffer gas flow and cluster drift, and the attachment of charged clusters to the chamber walls — the factors determining the output parameters of the cluster beam escaping the magnetron chamber — are analyzed. Cluster deposition on a solid surface and on dusty plasma particles is considered.

TL;DR: In this paper, the reaction of Ba with N2O is determined by observing chemiluminescence from flames in a rapid flow of buffer gas, and the yield for BaO A−X photons is strongly dependent on inert gas pressure and is measured to be 20% at pressures near 10 torr.
Abstract: Photon yields for the reaction of Ba with N2O are determined by observing chemiluminescence from flames in a rapid flow of buffer gas. The yield for BaO A−X photons is strongly dependent on inert‐gas pressure and is measured to be 20% at pressures near 10 torr. Also at this pressure, the specific yield for production of BaO A‐state molecules in a single vibrational level, v = 1, is found to have the surprisingly large value of 8%. The vibrational distribution of BaO A1Σ molecules in the flame is found to be a strong function of oxidizing reactant and buffer‐gas pressure. A kinetic scheme accounting for gross features of the observations is presented.

TL;DR: In this paper, a chemical vapor deposition method and an apparatus with a number reactive zones, each surrounded by a corresponding exhaust zone, all of which are both contained within a buffer zone.
Abstract: A chemical vapor deposition method and apparatus is disclosed. The process is carried out in an apparatus having a number reactive zones, each surrounded by a corresponding exhaust zone, all of which are both contained within a buffer zone. Pressure relationships are controlled such that buffer gas from the buffer zone flows into the exhaust zones and reactive gas from the reactive zones flow into the exhaust zones. As a result, cross-contamination of gases between the reactive zones is avoided.

TL;DR: In this paper, atomic europium has been magnetically trapped using buffer-gas loading using anti-Helmholtz superconducting coils produced by a quadrupole magnetic field.
Abstract: Atomic europium has been magnetically trapped using buffer-gas loading. Laser ablated $\mathrm{Eu}(^{8}S_{7/2})$ atoms are thermalized to 800 mK in a ${}^{4}\mathrm{He}$ buffer gas (to 250 mK in a ${}^{3}\mathrm{He}$ buffer gas). Anti-Helmholtz superconducting coils produce a quadrupole magnetic field to trap the ${M}_{J}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}7/2$ state of Eu. Detection is via absorption spectroscopy at 462.7 nm. Up to $1\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{12}\mathrm{Eu}$ atoms are loaded at a central density of $5\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{12}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}{\mathrm{cm}}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$. Atoms can be held for longer than 100 s.

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of TWIMS wave height parameters on the calibration is addressed by comparison of theoretical collision cross-sections calculated using helium and nitrogen radii with TWIMs-MS cross-section measurements determined in either helium or nitrogen buffer gases.
