TL;DR: The proposed novel method was successfully applied in the determination of the BZF content in several pharmaceutical formulations (tablets) and the results are in close agreement (at a 95% confidence level) with those obtained using a comparative spectrophotometric method.

TL;DR: The binding model of NHQ with Cd(2+) was definitely confirmed by the single crystal X-ray diffraction studies of the complex and the probe NHQ exhibited "turn-on" fluorescence and excellent selectivity toward Cd (2+) in different buffer solutions.
Abstract: A simple fluorescent probe NHQ based on quinoline was successfully prepared via one-step synthesis. The probe NHQ exhibited “turn-on” fluorescence and excellent selectivity toward Cd2+ in different buffer solutions such as Tris-HCl buffer solution, HEPES buffer solution, and PBS buffer solution, and even in water. Moreover, the binding model of NHQ with Cd2+ was definitely confirmed by the single crystal X-ray diffraction studies of the complex.

TL;DR: In this article, a method for the carboxylation of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) via a two-step process was presented, where the hydroxy groups of MWCNTs were first reacted with epichlorohydrin, then with iminodiacetic acid.
Abstract: A method is presented for the carboxylation of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) via a two-step process. The hydroxy groups of MWCNTs were first reacted with epichlorohydrin, then with iminodiacetic acid. The resulting MWCNTs were characterized by means of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The glassy carbon electrode modified with the MWCNTs thus prepared exhibited enhanced electrocatalytic activity and good stability for the determination of guanine and adenine in pH 7.0 phosphate buffer solution. The experimental parameters were optimized, and a direct electrochemical method was developed for the simultaneous determination of guanine and adenine. The detection limits (at S/N = 3) for guanine and adenine are 0.02 and 0.08 μM, respectively. A sensitive method was also developed for the determination of guanine and adenine in calf thymus DNA.

TL;DR: The chemical reaction between gluteraldehyde, the cross-linking agent, and chitosan was followed in situ using total internal reflection Raman (TIRR) spectroscopy, which provided a molecular insight into the complex reaction mechanism, as well as the means to quantify the cross thelinking density.
Abstract: Responsive biomaterial hydrogels attract significant attention due to their biocompatibility and degradability. In order to make chitosan based gels, we first graft one layer of chitosan to silica, and then build a chitosan/poly(acrylic acid) multilayer using the layer-by-layer approach. After cross-linking the chitosan present in the polyelectrolyte multilayer, poly(acrylic acid) is partly removed by exposing the multilayer structure to a concentrated carbonate buffer solution at a high pH, leaving a surface-grafted cross-linked gel. Chemical cross-linking enhances the gel stability against detachment and decomposition. The chemical reaction between gluteraldehyde, the cross-linking agent, and chitosan was followed in situ using total internal reflection Raman (TIRR) spectroscopy, which provided a molecular insight into the complex reaction mechanism, as well as the means to quantify the cross-linking density. The amount of poly(acrylic acid) trapped inside the surface grafted films was found to decrease...

TL;DR: Hydrolysis of standard lactose and lactose contained in UHT milk was more efficient using immobilized β-d-galactosidase than free β- d-galactsidase, and higher enzymatic activities were found after immobilization in phosphate buffer solution due to the isoelectric point of β-D-galactic enzyme.
