Abstract: Service economy, service science, service-dominant logic and servitization are apparently related terms. All of them emerged and are located in different disciplines, which do not ease things at all. Accordingly, this paper provides on the one side a fundamental theoretical background on these topics, and on the other side facilitates subsequent research by providing some reference points.

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to shed light on the concept of MaaS and what characterizes a ‘MaaS service’, as well as to propose a topology of MaaS as a tool for facilitating the discussion of MaaS, enabling the ‘comparison of’ different services, understanding MaaS’ potential effects, and aiding the integration of societal goals into MaaS services. Based on a literature review analyzing existing definitions, and an expert workshop identifying key aspects and ascertaining service differentiations accordingly, the resulting proposed topology consists of MaaS Levels 0 to 4 as characterized by different types of integration: 0 no integration; 1 integration of information; 2 integration of booking and payment; 3 integration of the service offer, including contracts and responsibilities; 4 integration of societal goals. The levels are described in terms of their added value and further discussed regarding implications for business, society, users, and technical requirements. Then, a deeper discussion also delves into the potential in expanding upon Level 4 and ways by which services and societal goals can become more fully integrated. The proposed topology adds clarity to the discussion of such a trending topic and enables the positioning of services along the MaaS spectrum. It also deepens the understanding of why MaaS can take time to establish, and can help support the development of action plans in terms of what needs to be done depending on what type of MaaS one wants to develop. Further analysis is desirable regarding the possibilities and problems linked with the different levels of MaaS. Such an analysis is key to understanding which effects can be achieved via the implementation of different levels of MaaS services in terms of e.g. social, economic and ecological sustainability, and business potential.

Abstract: Purpose The overall aim of this paper is to develop a new conceptual framework for business model innovation in a circular economy and to explore the reasons for consumer non-adoption of business models in this context Design/methodology/approach – The study is based on existing work in mostly professional or forbusiness publications and develops a conceptual model by clustering and abstraction For developing hypotheses on motives for consumer non-adoption the author refers to existing empirical research in various related fields Findings – The first part of the paper demonstrates that, despite wording differences, a predominant agreement on a basic structure for new business models in a circular economy has emerged in the field The second part provides evidence that the adoption of circular economy business models will depend upon changing consumer habits and routines by leveraging the impact of non-functional motives, as well as subjective and moral norms Practical implications – For practitioners working on new innovative business models in the realm of the circular economy this paper provides a basic framework for clustering their concepts By learning about consumer motives leading to non-adoption, this paper also provides support for designing better and more successful business models Originality/value – This paper develops a new holistic framework for the emerging topic of circular economy business models

Abstract: Crowdfunding is a rapidly growing technology-enabled process that has the potential to disrupt the capital market space In order for this process to work efficiently, it is important to clarify the issues surrounding the phenomenon from the founders', the backers', and the technology providers' viewpoints We begin with an ecosystem view to understand the stakeholders and their roles in the crowdfunding process We review the literature with a focus on how current research fits into the overall crowdfunding phenomenon Guided by typology and classification research approaches, we identify six distinct crowdfunding business models: private equity, royalty, microfinance, peer-to-peer lending, rewards, and donation Based on identified roles and crowdfunding business models, we propose a conceptual research framework We conclude by showing how current research fits into our proposed framework and offer suggestions for future research directions
