TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a process for developing an Enterprise JavaBean (EJB) component by analyzing a business domain to generate functional requirements that models the business domain, and the functional requirements are transformed into an EJB component model, preferably using a UML drawing tool.
Abstract: A process for developing an Enterprise JavaBean (EJB) component by analyzing a business domain to generate functional requirements that models the business domain. The functional requirements are transformed into an EJB component model, preferably using a UML drawing tool. The resulting EJB component is then built from the EJB component model that encompass the business functionality of the business domain. The present process enables the user/developer to research business problems or domain (i.e., business project) and transforms them into EJB components.

TL;DR: This case study shows that the proposed approach for dashboard development that is model-driven and can be integrated with the business performance models can be efficiently applied to and handle changes in the underlying business models, delivering significant benefits in terms of both development time and flexibility.
Abstract: Business performance modeling and model-driven business transformation are two research directions that are attracting much attention lately. In this study, we propose an approach for dashboard development that is model-driven and can be integrated with the business performance models. We adopt the business performance modeling framework, and we extend it in order to capture the reporting aspect of the business operation. We describe models that can effectively represent all the elements necessary for the business performance reporting process, and the interactions among them. We demonstrate how all these models can be combined and automatically generate the final solution. We further extend the proposed framework with mechanisms that can detect changes in the models and incrementally update the deployed solutions. Finally, we discuss our experience from the application of our technique in a real-world scenario. This case study shows that our technique can be efficiently applied to and handle changes in the underlying business models, delivering significant benefits in terms of both development time and flexibility.

TL;DR: An in-depth study that provides a process-based approach to B2B e-commerce is presented and illustrated with examples from industry, providing extensive insights for further comparative research and evaluation of products, services, and models.
Abstract: The business models in business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce and their effectiveness have been a major topic of research in recent years. Due to the variety of existing models, it seems difficult to find a widely accepted categorization that can be analyzed and assessed. An in-depth study that provides a process-based approach to B2B e-commerce is presented and illustrated with examples from industry. A comparative examination of both the buy and the sell side based on a process-related approach provides extensive insights for further comparative research and evaluation of products, services, and models. Selling services and e-procurement using Web electronic-data interchange (EDI) as submodels are clarified using real-world examples. Problems and trends in the B2B area form the conclusion of the examination with suggestions for further research.

TL;DR: This paper provides an overview and comparison of the prevailing approaches to design such a business process architecture and suggests that practitioners heavily rely on a mix of guidelines instead of embracing any single approach wholeheartedly.
Abstract: With the uptake of business process modeling in practice, the demand grows for guidelines that lead organizations to consistent and integrated collections of process models. The notion of a business process architecture has been explicitly proposed to address this issue. This paper provides an overview and comparison of the prevailing approaches to design such a business process architecture. Furthermore, it includes an evaluation of the usability and actual use of the identified approaches through our interaction with a large group of practitioners. Our findings suggest that practitioners heavily rely on a mix of guidelines instead of embracing any single approach wholeheartedly.
