TL;DR: In this article, a welding apparatus for fabricating wire grids for concrete reinforcement purposes, in which the longitudinal and cross wires are welded at the intersections, was described, and each electrode pair, consisting of top and bottom electrode (20, 23), forms together with a welding transformer (15) and if need be a longitudinalwire feed mechanism (18) a unit movable individually on a rail (4).
Abstract: The invention relates to a welding apparatus for fabricating wire grids for concrete reinforcement purposes, in which the longitudinal and cross wires are welded at the intersections. Each electrode pair, consisting of top and bottom electrode (20, 23), forms together with a welding transformer (15) and if need be a longitudinal-wire feed mechanism (18) a unit movable individually on a rail (4). All welding units (31-42) can be coupled to a transport spindle (8) by a transport nut (29b) in order to be moved on the rail (4) for a desired amount of travel. The individual mobility of the individual welding units (31-42) permits an infinitely variable and quick adjustment of the longitudinal-wire spacing.

TL;DR: In this paper, a pipe-pipe site butt welding method was proposed for continuous pipes. Butted positions of the pipe ends were assumed to be consistent to that of the main body of a main body.
Abstract: The invention relates to a pipe-pipe site butt welding method of continuous pipes. The pipe-pipe site butt welding method comprises the following steps: firstly adopting a cold straightening method to straighten the continuous pipes, then adopting a cold rounding method to carry out rounding, secondly carrying out groove processing with same angles on the butted positions of the pipe ends, then adopting an outer aligning mode to process the two continuous pipes into pipe ends with grooves so as to carry out welding and aligning assembly, and then adopting full-position non-melt electrode argon arc (TIG) automatic welding or manual welding; and finally carrying out electric arc burn-back heat treatment. The pipe-pipe site butt welding method can finish pipe-pipe site butt welding of the continuous pipes in situ, and obtain welding joints with the structure size of being consistent to that of the continuous pipes and comprehensive mechanical property of being near to that of a main body.

TL;DR: In this paper, the inner felt layer is laminated by an outer plastic layer, and then the plastic layer is welded simultaneously with the felt layer or, if this is not possible owing to properties of the materials, a narrow strip is left unlaminated on both sides of the weld 10 to be produced.
Abstract: The process according to the invention is used to produce a renewal tube, the inner felt layer 8 of which is laminated by an outer plastic layer. The weld 10 produced by the corresponding process is a butt weld, in which the cut surfaces of the felt layer and of the plastic layer butt against one another and are welded over the full surface area. A solid and reliable weld is obtained, without steps due to overlaps or the like. Either the plastic layer is welded simultaneously with the felt layer or, if this is not possible owing to properties of the materials, a narrow strip is left unlaminated on both sides of the weld 10 to be produced. After producing the weld, a plastic film is welded onto these strips.

TL;DR: In this paper, an analytical, finite element and experimental analyses of thin butt-welded plates are performed for estimating thermal field, distortions and residual stresses. And the existing empirical equations for the maximum distortion amplitudes are evaluated and new relationships are developed to estimate the distortion and residual stress spatial distributions on the thin butt welded plates.

TL;DR: In this paper, the use of pulse current has led to improvement in mechanical and metallurgical properties of weld joints, which has resulted in less development of humping which is a common problem with high-speed welding.
Abstract: Butt weld joints are prepared using pulse current gas tungsten arc welding out of thin sheets of AISI 1008 steel using various combinations of pulse parameters. During welding, the welding speed was kept high, but with the increase of welding speed the mean current was also increased to get the required weld joint at the constant heat input. The use of pulse current has led to improvement in mechanical and metallurgical properties of weld joints. It has resulted in less development of humping which is a common problem with high-speed welding. The undercut or dipped weld face is not observed severe. The tensile strength and hardness are enhanced by 12.5 and 12%. The increase of tensile strength and hardness is justified through TEM micrograph showing the presence of dislocation.
