TL;DR: For the first time a programmable broadband rf transversal filter is proposed that operates on the principle of broadband optical spectral control implemented with a spatial light modulator input rf signal time delay and weight selection over a near-continuous signal space.
Abstract: To the best of our knowledge, for the first time a programmable broadband rf transversal filter is proposed that operates on the principle of broadband optical spectral control implemented with a spatial light modulator input rf signal time delay and weight selection over a near-continuous signal space. Specifically, the filter uses a chirped fiber Bragg grating in combination with a two-dimensional digital micromirror device to enable a programmable rf filter. As a first step, a two-tap rf notch filter is demonstrated with a tuning range of 0.563-6.032 GHz with a 25-dB notch depth at test notch frequencies of 845 and 905 MHz. The proposed filter can find applications in diverse fields such as radar, communications, medicine, and test and measurement.

TL;DR: A new modular approach for realising log-domain filters with linear transfer characteristics is proposed and the realisation of the log- domain integrator and biquad filters is demonstrated and the simulation results presented.
Abstract: A new modular approach for realising log-domain filters is proposed. By using this approach, nonlinear Gm-C filter structures can be readily transformed into log-domain filters with linear transfer characteristics. The realisation of the log-domain integrator and biquad filters is demonstrated and the simulation results presented.

16 Sep 1992TL;DR: In this article, the frequency of a reference oscillator in a phase-locked-loop (PLL) and the cutoff frequency of the filter are controlled by a common control signal from the PLL.
Abstract: An arrangement for tuning a data filter in a mass storage system. The filter cutoff frequency (low pass) may be set as a percentage above or below the incoming data rate to achieve the desired "eye opening" in read data. The frequency of a reference oscillator in a phase-locked-loop (PLL) and the cutoff frequency of the filter is controlled by a common control signal from the PLL. The PLL, locked to a scaled multiple of the data rate, determines the cutoff frequency of the filter.

TL;DR: In this paper, a triple-mode dielectric monoblock band pass filter integrated with a wide bandwidth pre-select mask bandpass filter and a microstrip low pass filter for WCDMA base station application is presented.
Abstract: A practical triple-mode dielectric monoblock band pass filter integrated with a wide bandwidth pre-select mask bandpass filter and a microstrip low pass filter for WCDMA base station application is presented. The dielectric monoblock triple-mode filter was designed and optimized using 3D EM simulation software incorporating the equivalent circuit model. The pre-select filter and low pass filter were used to clean up the spurious response of the triple-mode filter up to 12 GHz. Both triple mode and mask filters are directly mounted on the PCB to minimize the cost and loss.

04 Dec 2005TL;DR: In this paper, a novel substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) quasi-elliptic filter using extracted-pole technique is proposed, which is fabricated on a substrate with the standard PCB process, taking the advantage of low cost and high selectivity.
Abstract: In this paper, a novel substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) quasi-elliptic filter using extracted-pole technique is proposed. The filter is fabricated on a substrate with the standard PCB process, which takes the advantage of low cost and high selectivity. Simulated and experimental results of a four-pole inline filter with one transmission zero at every side of the passband are presented.
