TL;DR: In this article, a method of caching commands in microprocessors having a plurality of arithmetic units and in modules having a two- or multidimensional cell arrangement is provided, which includes combining the plurality of cells and arithmetic units to form groups, assigning a cache unit to a group, and connecting the cache unit with a higher level unit via a tree structure.
Abstract: A method of caching commands in microprocessors having a plurality of arithmetic units and in modules having a two- or multidimensional cell arrangement is provided. The method includes combining a plurality of cells and arithmetic units to form a plurality of groups, assigning a cache unit to a group, and connecting the cache unit to a higher level unit via a tree structure. The cache unit may send requests for required commands to the higher level cache unit, which may return a command sequence including the required command, if the higher level cache unit holds the first command sequence including the required command in the higher level cache unit's local memory.

TL;DR: In this article, a caching priority designator is assigned to an address that addresses information stored in a memory system, and the information is stored in the cacheline of a first level of cache memory in the memory system.
Abstract: A method of managing cache memory includes assigning a caching priority designator to an address that addresses information stored in a memory system. The information is stored in a cacheline of a first level of cache memory in the memory system. The cacheline is evicted from the first level of cache memory. A second level in the memory system to which to write back the information is determined based at least in part on the caching priority designator. The information is written back to the second level.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose fault contained memory partitioning in a cache coherent, symmetric shared memory multiprocessor system while enabling fault contained cache coherence domains as well as cache coherent inter partition memory regions.
Abstract: The present invention provides fault contained memory partitioning in a cache coherent, symmetric shared memory multiprocessor system while enabling fault contained cache coherence domains as well as cache coherent inter partition memory regions. The entire system may be executed as a single coherence domain regardless of partitioning, and the general memory access and cache coherency traffic are distinguished. All memory access is intercepted and processed by the memory controller. Before data is read from or written to memory, the address is verified and the executed operation is aborted if the address is outside the memory regions assigned to the processor in use. Inter cache requests are allowed to pass, though concurrently the accessed memory address is verified in the same manner as the memory requests. During the corresponding inter cache response, a failed validity check for the request results in the stopping of the requesting processor and the repair of the potentially corrupted memory hierarchy of the responding processor.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a cache management method that enables optimal cache space settings to be provided on a storage device in a computer system where database management systems (DBMSs) run.
Abstract: A cache management method disclosed herein enables optimal cache space settings to be provided on a storage device in a computer system where database management systems (DBMSs) run. Through the disclosed method, cache space partitions to be used per data set are set, based on information about processes to be executed by the DBMSs, which is given as design information. For example, based on estimated rerun time of processes required after DBMS abnormal termination, cache space is adjusted to serve the needs of logs to be output from the DBMS. In another example, initial cache space allocations for table and index data is optimized, based on process types and approximate access characteristics of data. In yet another example, from a combination of results of pre-analysis of processes and cache operating statistics information, a change in process execution time by cache space tuning is estimated and a cache effect is enhanced.

TL;DR: In this paper, an adaptive read ahead cache is provided with a real cache and a virtual cache, where the real cache has a data buffer, an address buffer, and a status buffer.
Abstract: An adaptive read ahead cache is provided with a real cache and a virtual cache. The real cache has a data buffer, an address buffer, and a status buffer. The virtual cache contains only an address buffer and a status buffer. Upon receiving an address associated with the consumer's request, the cache stores the address in the virtual cache address buffer if the address is not found in the real cache address buffer and the virtual cache address buffer. Further, the cache fills the real cache data buffer with data responsive to the address from said memory if the address is found only in the virtual cache address buffer. The invention thus loads data into the cache only when sequential accesses are occurring and minimizes the overhead of unnecessarily filling the real cache when the host is accessing data in a random access mode.
