TL;DR: In this paper, the rest-frame instant form of tetrad gravity restricted to Christodoulou-Klainermann spacetimes was defined and solved by solving the multitemporal equations associated with the rotation and space diffeomorphism constraints.
Abstract: We define the rest-frame instant form of tetrad gravity restricted to Christodoulou-Klainermann spacetimes After a study of the Hamiltonian group of gauge transformations generated by the 14 first class constraints of the theory, we define and solve the multitemporal equations associated with the rotation and space diffeomorphism constraints, finding how the cotriads and their momenta depend on the corresponding gauge variables This allows to find a quasi-Shanmugadhasan canonical transformation to the class of 3-orthogonal gauges and to find the Dirac observables for superspace in these gauges The construction of the explicit form of the transformation and of the solution of the rotation and supermomentum constraints is reduced to solve a system of elliptic linear and quasi-linear partial differential equations We then show that the superhamiltonian constraint becomes the Lichnerowicz equation for the conformal factor of the 3-metric and that the last gauge variable is the momentum conjugated to the conformal factor The gauge transformations generated by the superhamiltonian constraint perform the transitions among the allowed foliations of spacetime, so that the theory is independent from its 3+1 splittings In the special 3-orthogonal gauge defined by the vanishing of the conformal factor momentum we determine the final Dirac observables for the gravitational field even if we are not able to solve the Lichnerowicz equation The final Hamiltonian is the weak ADM energy restricted to this completely fixed gauge

TL;DR: In this paper, an anomaly-free Dirac constraint quantization of the string-inspired dilatonic gravity (the CGHS model) in an open 2-dimensional spacetime is presented.
Abstract: We present an anomaly-free Dirac constraint quantization of the string-inspired dilatonic gravity (the CGHS model) in an open 2-dimensional spacetime. We show that the quantum theory has the same degrees of freedom as the classical theory; namely, all the modes of the scalar field on an auxiliary flat background, supplemented by a single additional variable corresponding to the primordial component of the black hole mass. The functional Heisenberg equations of motion for these dynamical variables and their canonical conjugates are linear, and they have exactly the same form as the corresponding classical equations. A canonical transformation brings us back to the physical geometry and induces its quantization.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the ambiguities in the Fock quantization of the scalar perturbations of a Friedmann-Lema-tre-Robertson-Walker model with a massive scalar field as matter content.
Abstract: We investigate the ambiguities in the Fock quantization of the scalar perturbations of a Friedmann-Lema\^{\i}tre-Robertson-Walker model with a massive scalar field as matter content. We consider the case of compact spatial sections (thus avoiding infrared divergences), with the topology of a three-sphere. After expanding the perturbations in series of eigenfunctions of the Laplace-Beltrami operator, the Hamiltonian of the system is written up to quadratic order in them. We fix the gauge of the local degrees of freedom in two different ways, reaching in both cases the same qualitative results. A canonical transformation, which includes the scaling of the matter-field perturbations by the scale factor of the geometry, is performed in order to arrive at a convenient formulation of the system. We then study the quantization of these perturbations in the classical background determined by the homogeneous variables. Based on previous work, we introduce a Fock representation for the perturbations in which: (a) the complex structure is invariant under the isometries of the spatial sections and (b) the field dynamics is implemented as a unitary operator. These two properties select not only a unique unitary equivalence class of representations, but also a preferred field description, picking up a canonical pair of field variables among all those that can be obtained by means of a time-dependent scaling of the matter field (completed into a linear canonical transformation). Finally, we present an equivalent quantization constructed in terms of gauge-invariant quantities. We prove that this quantization can be attained by a mode-by-mode time-dependent linear canonical transformation which admits a unitary implementation, so that it is also uniquely determined.

TL;DR: In this article, a canonical transformation of coordinates was made using exact trajectories, which tends to uniformize all coordinates including that for the radial motion, thus removing the singularities in the simple semiclassical exponential wave function in typical cases.
Abstract: A canonical transformation of coordinates in Part I is made using exact trajectories. The transformation tends to uniformize all coordinates including that for the radial motion, thus removing the singularities in the simple semiclassical exponential wavefunction in typical cases. The new coordinates are ``time'' and certain constants of the motion. A symmetrical choice for the transformation then yields an integral expression for the S matrix satisfying the principle of microscopic reversibility. Topics discussed include semiclassical unitary transformations and time‐reversal properties of action‐angle variables and of semi‐classical wavefunctions. Applications and numerical tests of the integral expression for Smn are in progress.
