TL;DR: In this article, a non-catalyzed steam gasification of naphthalene was investigated and 1-naphthol and indene were used as intermediate products.
Abstract: This work is concerned with the non-catalyzed steam gasification of naphthalene. This compound was selected because of its high stability and high concentration in the tars produced during coal gasification. Additional experiments were performed with 1-naphthol and indene because these compounds are important intermediate products in steam gasification of naphthalene. (orig./EF).

TL;DR: In this paper, the composition and property ranges of coals of different coal ranks covering proximate and ultimate analyses are presented, and selected applications for activated carbon and nonactivated carbon products from low rank coals are presented.
Abstract: This chapter presents the composition and property ranges of coals of different coal ranks covering the proximate and ultimate analyses. The coal rank characterizes the metamorphic conversion of the biomass during the coalification process. Different classification systems of coals are taken into account. Different technologies are developed especially for gas adsorption processes due to their dual phase mass transfer. In the further part of the chapter, the selected applications for activated carbon and nonactivated carbon products from low rank coals are presented.
