TL;DR: In this article, the effect of adding polycondensed aromatic solvents on the liquefaction of a lignite and a bituminous coal was investigated, using a time-sampled reactor system that can rapidly charge reactants into a preheated autoclave and then sample its contents throughout the course of reaction.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors demonstrate that low-rank coals can be cleaned by agglomeration with distillate coal liquefaction recycle oils, and they show that the results show that low rank coals are cleanable.

TL;DR: In this paper, coal which is liquefied in the presence of a pasting solvent, is separated into an ash free and an ash containing coal liquefaction product, each of such products is delayed coked in separate zones with the vapors from such zones being introduced into a common combination coker-fractionator to recover ash containing and ash free coking recycle, pasting solvents for the liquid and lighter products.
Abstract: Coal which is liquefied in the presence of a pasting solvent, is separated into an ash free and an ash containing coal liquefaction product. Each of such products is delayed coked in separate zones with the vapors from such zones being introduced into a common combination coker-fractionator to recover ash containing and ash free coking recycle, pasting solvent for the liquefaction and lighter products. The process is particulary applicable to coal liquefaction products produced from high ash containing coals.
