TL;DR: In this paper, 26 kinds of anthracene oils with widely ranging characteristics were used for Yallourn and Taiheiyo coal liquefactions, and the results showed that hydrogen contents of solvents were correlated well with coal conversion.
Abstract: To estimate a solvent ability for coal liquefaction, 26 kinds of anthracene oils with widely ranging characteristics were used for Yallourn and Taiheiyo coal liquefactions Hydrogen contents of solvents were correlated well with Yallourn coal conversion having a large coefficient of correlation (090), whereas less value was obtained for Taiheiyo coal (081) The hydrogen donating ability (HDA) defined by the amount of dihydroanthracene produced in the reaction of the solvent with anthracene was correlated well with conversion to TS for both coals (coefficients of correlation were 090 and 094) Their relationship was applied to recycle solvents; however, smaller conversions than predicted by the regression curve were obtained

TL;DR: In this article, a number of products of the liquefaction of a set of 26 high-sulphur coals having already been reported, structural characteristics of the derived asphaltenes and their parent coals are now presented.

TL;DR: In this paper, the liquefaction of Wyodak subbituminous coal was investigated and it was found that benzyl alcohol and benzene dimethanol, which can be vieved as the precursors of benzyl-type radicals, induce extensive retrogressive cross-linking involving themselves and solid coal.
Abstract: The paper reports the liquefaction of Wyodak subbituminous coal. It has been found thaat benzyl alcohol and benzene dimethanol, which can be vieved as the precursors of benzyl-type radicals, can induce extensive retrogressive cross-linking involving themselves and solid coal

TL;DR: In this paper, a procedure for quantitative estimation of a maceral liquefaction reactivity is outlined in terms of the regression analysis which takes into account petrographic composition and coal rank.

TL;DR: In this article, the initial stages of coal liquefaction have been investigated in small batch autoclaves at moderate to low liquidation temperatures, and it was shown that ammonium molybdate had a beneficial effect on conversion at lower temperatures as revealed by a decrease in the demands placed on the liquidation solvent.
