TL;DR: Five steroidal saponins were isolated from the EtOH extract of Cestrium sendtenerianum (Solanaceae), as confirmed by detailed analysis of their 1H, 13C, and two-dimensional NMR spectral data, and by the results of hydrolytic cleavage.

Abstract: The breeding systems and P/O ratios of five species of Cestrum (Solanaceae) of a cloud forest in Venezuela were studied. The five species are xenogamous due to self-incompatibility mechanisms, with high P/O ratios associated to this reproductive system. The differences in the P/O ratios could be responses to the pollinators efficiency.
