TL;DR: In this article, a pulsed glow discharge was used as an atomizer for atomic fluorescence spectroscopy with a copper vapor laser pumped dye laser excitation source, where the discharge system was synchronously pulsed with the laser to provide a low noise background and the low pressure, inert gas atmosphere contributed to an almost ideal environment for fluorescence measurement.

TL;DR: An alcohol/water fuel vaporizer for use in an internal combustion steam engine is described in this paper, where the vaporizer comprises an exhaust gas chamber through which engine exhaust is passed and a vapor chamber for the generation and retention of pressurized fuel vapor.
Abstract: An alcohol/water fuel vaporizer for use in an internal combustion steam engine. The vaporizer comprises an exhaust gas chamber through which engine exhaust is passed and a vapor chamber for the generation and retention of pressurized fuel vapor. The exhaust gas chamber includes a plurality of baffles to direct the flow of the gas against a crown sheet, the latter sheet being heated thereby. The crown sheet forms the dividing partition between the vapor and exhaust gas chambers. A fuel preheater is positioned in the vapor chamber through which engine coolant is passed. A plurality of switchable fuel injectors in the vapor chamber controllably admit and spray fuel onto the preheater and crown plate in response to engine power demands and vapor chamber pressure.

TL;DR: In this paper, an analytical and experimental study of the formation of bubbles from a submerged vertical needle under mixed injection conditions, where neither the gas flow rate nor the feeding pressure remain constant during the process, is presented.

TL;DR: In this article, photo-assisted activation of non-catalytic substrates using an excimer lamp for subsequent electroless copper plating is described, and the palladium films formed and the π-methallyl-dibenzoylmethyl-palladium(II) layers used were characterized using ultraviolet spectrophotometry and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.
Abstract: Photo-assisted activation of non-catalytic substrates using an excimer lamp for subsequent electroless copper plating is described. The palladium films formed and the π-methallyl-dibenzoylmethyl-palladium(II) layers used were characterized using ultraviolet spectrophotometry and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The variables which are important to the process are discussed, including the exposure time, UV intensity and chamber pressure. The photo-decomposition of the palladium compounds was found to be a function of both the UV dose and chamber pressure during irradiation. The selectivity of subsequent metal electroless plating using a commercial copper bath was demonstrated by irradiating the surfaces through a quartz contact mask.

TL;DR: In a sliding vane type of rotary pump usable for power steering systems, a seal of hour glass shape is provided between the flow directing plate, on the outlet side of the vane rotor and the outlet pressure chamber, to confine exposure of the high pressure of the outlet chamber to the downstream side of a plate within a predetermined area only partially balanced by exposure of downstream side to such high pressure as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: In a sliding vane type of rotary pump usable for power steering systems a seal of hour glass shape is provided between the flow directing plate, on the outlet side of the vane rotor and the outlet pressure chamber, to confine exposure of the high pressure of the outlet chamber to the downstream side of the plate within a predetermined area only partially balanced by exposure of the upstream side to such high pressure and to also isolate suction passages from the outlet chamber pressure. The result is a flexing of the flow directing plate at the center toward the pump rotor to reduce rotary clearance and permit the use of thinner and lighter weight flow directing plates.
