TL;DR: In this paper, a character education is part of the formation of identity, selfconcept, self-esteem, psychology, personality, character, individualistic behavior, character and character.
Abstract: The values of nationalism can be learned from educational materials that are oriented towards character development. Character education is part of a revolutionary zone among students, therefore character education is a very important part to be urgently developed in the minds of the student head because students are the next generation who will lead the nation and state. Character learning that is oriented towards the values of nationalism can overcome various social problems. Building character for the current generation is one of the goals of national education. The Ministry of National Education (2011) describes the matter of character building through educational institutions that in the implementation process designing students to have caring care and responsibility. This analysis concerns that character education is part of the formation of identity, selfconcept, self-esteem, psychology, personality, character, individualistic behavior, character and character. This writing method uses a descriptive method. Discussion: 1). Zone of Nationalism and Learning. 2). Character Education and Learning Development. Conclusion: Character learning in universities is one of the development of learning which should provide an effective space in internalizing the values of Nationalism in shaping the character and civilization of the Indonesian nation to students

TL;DR: The authors explored how modern vocabulary was coined and shared in the Chinese Character Cultural Sphere (China, Japan, Korea and Vietnam) and showed that language modernization in this part of the world had very strong transcultural aspects, largely due to Japan's pioneering role in language modernization and to the shared Chinese writing system.
Abstract: The study of sociolinguistics, including that of language standardization, has largely been built on cases from the West. Hence, languages, societies and historical experiences in Western, industrialized and rich democracies have disproportionately contributed to the formation of models and theories. Cases outside of Europe and North America are predestined to test, challenge and expand sociolinguistic theory and methodology (Smakman & Heinrich 2015). In this chapter, I explore how modern vocabulary was coined and shared in the Chinese Character Cultural Sphere (China, Japan, Korea and Vietnam). This case shows that language modernization in this part of the world had very strong transcultural aspects, largely due to Japan’s pioneering role in language modernization in Asia and to the shared Chinese writing system. The topic discussed in this chapter has a twofold implication for our understanding of language standardization. First, standardization is not limited to linguistically separated and geographically demarcated states, but may occur across languages and states. Second, the writing system has an influence on the standardization process. With the onset of East Asian modernization in the mid-nineteenth century, Japan eclipsed for several decades China’s position as the cultural centre of the Chinese Character Cultural Sphere. Japan now coined a large number of Sino-Japanese words itself – these types of Sino-Japanese words

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explored the contents of moral and character education for children and the pedagogy or approach employed by parents and teachers to teach character and moral education for the children.
Abstract: The objective of this study was to explore the contents of moral and character education for children and the pedagogy or approach employed by parents and teachers to teach character and moral education for children. The study was conducted in 18 schools found in East Gojjam, West Gojjam and Awi administrative zones. Preprimary and primary school teachers (N = 272) and one of the parents of children (N = 272) participated in the study. Concurrent mixed design was employed and quantitative and qualitative data were gathered using questionnaire and document analysis respectively. Descriptive statistics was employed to analyze the quantitative data and thematic analysis was applied to analyze qualitative data. The study found that among the six categories of character (caring, honesty, emotional intelligence, responsibility and respect) parents emphasized on teaching children to be honest (M = 2.6,SD = 0.46) and responsible M = 2.48,SD = 0.38) to their actions and behaviors. Teachers give high emphasis for teaching children to be respecting and caring to others and to Fairness (M = 2.62, SD = 0.43) and Respect (M = 2.63,SD = 0.37). Advising is the most frequently used common approache used by parents and teachers. Besides, using fairy tales with animal characters and songs are mostly found to be important approaches to teach character education about right and wrong behaviors to children. The study reveals that there are pieces of moral and character contents included across different subjects. Yet, there is a challenge in providing character and moral education as a separate subject in schools and failure of parents and teachers to be good role models for children. This implies that the Ministry of Education shall plan character and moral education to be offered as a separate subject for preprimary and primary school children and parents and teachers need to work in collaboration to teach character and moral education for children.

TL;DR: In this article, the Schur polynomials (characters) and their generalizations are used to define the superintegrability of matrix models, which is defined as the property of observables that have explicitly calculable averages.
Abstract: Many eigenvalue matrix models possess a peculiar basis of observables that have explicitly calculable averages. This explicit calculability is a stronger feature than ordinary integrability, just like the cases of quadratic and Coulomb potentials are distinguished among other central potentials, and we call it superintegrability. As a peculiarity of matrix models, the relevant basis is formed by the Schur polynomials (characters) and their generalizations, and superintegrability looks like a property $$\langle character\rangle \,\sim character$$ . This is already known to happen in the most important cases of Hermitian, unitary, and complex matrix models. Here we add two more examples of principal importance, where the model depends on external fields: a special version of complex model and the cubic Kontsevich model. In the former case, straightforward is a generalization to the complex tensor model. In the latter case, the relevant characters are the celebrated Q Schur functions appearing in the description of spin Hurwitz numbers and other related contexts.

TL;DR: The authors investigated the effects of a character strength focused positive psychology course on student well-being and found that the positive psychology students had significant improvements in all of the measures, including the total PERMA score.
Abstract: This study investigated the effects of a character strength focused positive psychology course on student well-being. The Values in Action character strengths were each presented as ways to increase both individual and community well-being. There were 112 undergraduate students in the positive psychology course and a comparison group of 176 undergraduates who took other psychology courses. They all completed the PERMA-Profiler (Butler and Kern in Int J Wellbeing 6:1–48, 2016) during the first and last week of the semester. This questionnaire assessed the five elements of positive emotion, engagement, relationships, meaning, accomplishment (PERMA) plus happiness, health, loneliness, and negative emotion. The hypotheses were that (1) the positive psychology students would have significant improvements in each of the measures during the semester and (2) these changes would be significantly greater in the desired direction than the changes for the students in other psychology courses. The first hypothesis was supported in that the positive psychology students had significant improvements in all of the measures, including the total PERMA score. The second hypothesis was also strongly supported in that these improvements were significantly greater relative to the students taking other psychology courses. The effect sizes for the difference between the groups were large for the total PERMA score (d = .846) and the element of meaning; medium-to-large for positive emotion and relationships; medium for happiness, accomplishment, and negative emotion (decrease); and small-to-medium for engagement, health, and loneliness (decrease).

TL;DR: In this paper, a scale measuring elementary school students' curiosity using confirmatory factor analysis has been proposed to test proving the scale of measuring the character of student's curiosity using a quantitative approach using a sample used was 325 randomly selected participants.
Abstract: This study aims to test proving the scale of measuring the character of students' curiosity using confirmatory factor analysis. This study uses a quantitative approach. The sample used was 325 randomly selected participants. The variable examined in this study is the character of curiosity. The curiosity variable is focused on elementary school students. In this study, this variable was measured by four indicators and 16 measuring items. The four indicators include: paying attention, taking notes, asking questions, and comparing. Data collection was carried out by distributing curiosity questionnaires to participants. The data analysis technique used was confirmatory factor analysis. The reliability analysis used was the composite score reliability analysis. The results of the study concluded that the constituent indicators of the latent variables of students' curiosity show that all loading factor values have a significant effect on the latent variables in the first-order confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Meanwhile, in the secondorder CFA, the variable of curiosity, the biggest contribution was the indicators compare. This student curiosity assessment model has fulfilled the goodness of fit aspect of the model and has been reliable based on construct reliability. This study recommends a scale measuring elementary school students' curiosity.

TL;DR: The proposed deep recurrent architecture is evaluated for its efficacy for datasets, namely ss.txt, RS126, and CASP9, and it was observed that the proposed model is performing better in comparison to state-of-art methods.
Abstract: Protein secondary structure is vital to predicting the tertiary structure, which is essential in deciding protein function and drug designing. Therefore, there is a high requirement of computational methods to predict secondary structure from their primary sequence. Protein primary sequences represented as a linear combination of twenty amino acid characters and contain the contextual information for secondary structure prediction. Protein secondary structure predicted from their primary sequences using a deep recurrent neural network. Protein secondary structure depends on local and long-range residues in primary sequences. In the proposed work, the local contextual information of amino acid residues captures with character n-gram. A dense embedding vector represents this local contextual information. Furthermore, the bidirectional long short-term memory (Bi-LSTM) model is used to capture the long-range contexts by extracting the past and future residues information in primary sequences. The proposed deep recurrent architecture is evaluated for its efficacy for datasets, namely ss.txt, RS126, and CASP9. The model shows the Q3 accuracies of 88.45%, 83.48%, and 86.69% for ss.txt, RS126, and CASP9, respectively. The performance of the proposed model is also compared with other state-of-the-art methods available in the literature. After a comparative analysis, it was observed that the proposed model is performing better in comparison to state-of-art methods.

TL;DR: In this article, the effectiveness of mathematics comic teaching material with Pancasila values in improving students' critical thinking and character was analyzed in a quasi-experimental study that involves non-equivalent control group design.
Abstract: Students' critical thinking ability requires improvement from schools as an educational institution. Besides, it is important to maximally integrate character education into mathematics learning. One of the attempts was implementing mathematics comic that contains Pancasila values as teaching material through contextual teaching and learning. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effectiveness of mathematics comic teaching material with Pancasila values in improving students' critical thinking and character. This is a quasi-experimental study that involves non-equivalent control group design. The population was fourth-grade students of elementary schools in Gajahmungkur District, and data were collected using a critical thinking test and questionnaire. The results showed that using mathematics comic teaching material with Pancasila values was (1) effective in improving students' critical thinking ability; (2) effective in developing character, especially discipline and hard work trait. In the beginning, both character traits were categorized as good, and after treatment, there was an increase in the very good category. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of mathematics comic teaching material with Pancasila values is effective in improving critical thinking ability and character traits.

TL;DR: In this paper, a finite-dimensional twisted description of the tau functions of the universal character (UC) hierarchy using Grassmannians is presented, from the standpoint of the relation between the UC and Kadomtsev-Petviashvili hierarchies.
Abstract: Using the so-called Schubert decomposition, we present a finite-dimensional twisted description of the tau functions of the universal character (UC ) hierarchy using Grassmannians. Moreover, from the standpoint of the relation between the UC and Kadomtsev–Petviashvili hierarchies, we study the expansion of this tau function in terms of the action of Abelian groups on finite-dimensional Grassmannians. We use the Gekhtman–Kasman determinant formula involving exponentials of finite-dimensional matrices, which naturally leads to the structure of two finite Grassmannians. Using the Gekhtman–Kasman-type formula, we consider some concrete examples: rational, soliton, and mixed solutions.

TL;DR: This research implies that teachers can use web-based assessment in conducting assessments because the use of the website can save time, display real-time data, and is very easy to use anywhere, so with a good response from users make this web- based assessment suitable for use in student character assessment.
Abstract: There are currently several obstacles in the assessment using conventional media, including excessive use of paper, which causes environmental damage, and increases in school fees to conduct an assessment. In addition, it is less effective in conducting assessments because it takes a long time to assess the results of student answers manually. . Conventional media allows fraud and results in a lack of confidence in the assessment results. This study aims to analyze user responses using web-based assessment as a character assessment medium. The population of this study amounted to 91 students. This study uses a mixed-method explanatory method with descriptive analysis and qualitative methods. The results of the study show that the user response obtained an average value of 3.52, which includes the SB category (excellent) because the use of the website can save time, display real-time data, and is very easy to use anywhere, so with a good response from users make this web-based assessment suitable for use in student character assessment. This research implies that teachers can use web-based assessment in conducting assessments.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied affine Deligne-Lusztig varieties with arbitrarily deep level structure for general reductive groups over local fields and showed that they are isomorphic to affine DELGANS at infinite level.
Abstract: We initiate the study of affine Deligne–Lusztig varieties with arbitrarily deep level structure for general reductive groups over local fields. We prove that for $${{\,\mathrm{GL}\,}}_n$$ and its inner forms, Lusztig’s semi-infinite Deligne–Lusztig construction is isomorphic to an affine Deligne–Lusztig variety at infinite level. We prove that their homology groups give geometric realizations of the local Langlands and Jacquet–Langlands correspondences in the setting that the Weil parameter is induced from a character of an unramified field extension. In particular, we resolve Lusztig’s 1979 conjecture in this setting for minimal admissible characters.
