TL;DR: In this paper, a system includes a control station for remotely controlling an animated character, which is used to transfer audio, video and other control signals to the animated character to provide speech, hearing, vision and practically any movement in real-time.
Abstract: A system includes a control station for remotely controlling an animated character. Radio frequencies are used to transfer audio, video and other control signals to the animated character to provide speech, hearing, vision and practically any movement in real-time. A camera is used in the head of the animated character, and microphones are used in its ears to provide vision and hearing to a monitoring operator at the control station. A speaker is co-located with the animated character to generate sound from the operator. Servo control units are included within the animated character to provide a plurality of body movements. Other aspects of the animated character includes a multi-layer skin composite to make it appear more life-like, and an audio driver circuit for controlling the mouth of the animated character in proportion to the level of an audio signal generated at the control station.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a method for sharing and organizing world wide web pages using a number of distinctive characters, each having an interest, by associating with it one or more web pages that collectively characterize the interest of the character.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to sharing and organizing world wide web pages using a number of distinctive characters, each having an interest. In a preferred embodiment, each distinctive character is initialized by associating with it one or more web pages that collectively characterize the interest of the character. After initialization, each web page viewed by the user is assessed for each of the distinctive characters. The assessment process involves, for a single distinctive character, determining whether the web page viewed by the user exhibits at least a threshold level of similarity to web pages already associated with the distinctive character. The assessment process further involves associating the viewed web page with the distinctive character if the viewed web page exhibits at least a threshold level of similarity to the web pages already associated with the distinctive character. As a result, after the user has viewed a number of web pages, the viewed web pages that characterize each distinctive character's interest are associated with that distinctive character.

TL;DR: A speech synthesizing method includes determining the accent type of the input character string, selecting the prosodic model data from a prosody dictionary for storing typical ones of the Prosodic models representing the prosody information for the character strings in a word dictionary, and connecting the selected waveform data with each other.
Abstract: A speech synthesizing method includes determining the accent type of the input character string, selecting the prosodic model data from a prosody dictionary for storing typical ones of the prosodic models representing the prosodic information for the character strings in a word dictionary, based on the input character string and the accent type, transforming the prosodic information of the prosodic model when the character string of the selected prosodic model is not coincident with the input character string, selecting the waveform data corresponding to each character of the input character string from a waveform dictionary, based on the prosodic model data after transformation, and connecting the selected waveform data with each other. Therefore, a difference between an input character string and a character string stored in a dictionary is absorbed, then it is possible to synthesize a natural voice.

TL;DR: In this article, a data entry system for processing ambiguous data is presented, which includes unambiguous keys and ambiguous keys (14207, 14208) and ambiguous entries (14203).
Abstract: A data entry system, for processing ambiguous data, as shown in Figure 18 includes unambiguous keys (14207, 14208) and ambiguous keys (14203). The system predicts words from the ambiguous entry. If the predicted word is not desired, an unambiguous entry replaces a character in the word with the desired character. A second prediction is made based on the unambiguous entry.
