TL;DR: In this paper, an expected PCR product of size ~500 bp was amplified from total DNA extracts of symptomatic leaf samples with universal primers on the gene of coat protein region of begomovirus DNA-A component.
Abstract: ABSTRACT Infected leaf samples of an ornamental plant Chrysanthemum indicum showing yellowing of leaf veins were collected from gardens of New Delhi (India). An expected PCR product of size ~500 bp was amplified from total DNA extracts of symptomatic leaf samples with universal primers on the gene of coat protein region of begomovirus DNA-A component. The presence of begomoviruses was also confirmed by Southern blot analysis using control cloned DNA-A probe of Cotton leaf curl virus. Sequence analysis of the virus infecting Chrysanthemum indicum showed 99% nucleotide sequence identity with Clerodendron yellow mosaic virus (EF408037).

TL;DR: In this paper, a fractional factorial design was applied to investigate the effects of added sample ratio and extraction time variables on extract properties, such as, soluble solid contents, sugar content, turbidity, total phenol, and DPPH.
Abstract: Extraction conditions were optimized using response surface methodology for preparing high-quality, hot water extracts from cultivated Chrysanthemum indicum L. petals. A fractional factorial design was applied to investigate the effects of added sample ratio (), extraction temperature () and extraction time () variables on extract properties, such as, soluble solid contents (), sugar content (), ?E (), turbidity (), total phenol () and DPPH (). Second-order models were employed to generate a 3-dimensional response surface for dependent variables and their coefficients of determination () ranged from 0.84080.9914. The range of optimum conditions at extraction for maximize characteristics of hot water extracts was 2.32.7 g and 9.211.2 hr.

TL;DR: Twelve new guaianolide-type sesquiterpenoids and five known guaIANolide derivatives were isolated from an aqueous ethanol extract of the aerial parts of Chrysanthemum indicum and their structures were determined through spectroscopic data analysis.
Abstract: Twelve new guaianolide-type sesquiterpenoids (1-12) and five known guaianolide derivatives (13-17) were isolated from an aqueous ethanol extract of the aerial parts of Chrysanthemum indicum. Their structures were determined through spectroscopic data analysis. The absolute configurations of the new compounds were assigned by X-ray crystallography and electronic circular dichroism. Compound 5 shows multiple cytotoxic activities against four human naso-pharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) cell lines (CNE1, CNE2, SUNE-1, and HONE-1) and one human intestinal epithelial cell line (HT-29) with IC50 values of 4.6, 6.0, 3.5, 4.3, and 9.6 μM, respectively. Compound 16 exhibits weak cytotoxicity against four NPC cell lines, CNE1 (IC50 = 7.3 μM), CNE2 (IC50 = 7.4 μM), HONE-1 (IC50 = 7.6 μM), and SUNE-1 (IC50 = 5.6 μM), but no cytotoxicity against HT-29 (IC50 > 10 μM).

TL;DR: Four new polyacetylenes, namely chrysindins A-D, together with 6 known polyacetYLenes, were isolated from the flowers of Chrysanthemum indicum, establishing their structures on the basis of comprehensive spectroscopic analyses.
Abstract: Four new polyacetylenes, namely chrysindins A-D, together with 6 known polyacetylenes, were isolated from the flowers of Chrysanthemum indicum. Their structures were established on the basis of comprehensive spectroscopic analyses. Chrysindins A and B bear a novel carbon skeleton.
