TL;DR: This study systematically study the dependence of the metamaterial's chiral optical properties on helix pitch, helix radius, two-dimensional lattice constant, wire radius, number of helix pitches, and angle of incidence.
Abstract: We have recently shown that metamaterials composed of three-dimensional gold helices periodically arranged on a square lattice can be used as compact “thin-film” circular polarizers with one octave bandwidth. The physics of the motif of these artificial crystals is closely related to that of microwave sub-wavelength helical antennas in end-fire geometry. Here, we systematically study the dependence of the metamaterial’s chiral optical properties on helix pitch, helix radius, two-dimensional lattice constant, wire radius, number of helix pitches, and angle of incidence. Our numerical calculations show that the optical properties are governed by resonances of the individual helices, yet modified by interaction effects. Furthermore, our study shows possibilities and limitations regarding performance optimization.

TL;DR: In this article, the first implementation of non-collinear high harmonic generation with circularly polarized driving lasers was presented. And the authors showed that the non-Collinear mixing enables the generation of isolated attosecond pulses with circular polarization.
Abstract: We generate angularly isolated beams of circularly polarized extreme ultraviolet light through the first implementation of non-collinear high harmonic generation with circularly polarized driving lasers. This non-collinear technique offers numerous advantages over previous methods, including the generation of higher photon energies, the separation of the harmonics from the pump beam, the production of both left and right circularly polarized harmonics at the same wavelength and the capability of separating the harmonics without using a spectrometer. To confirm the circular polarization of the beams and to demonstrate the practicality of this new light source, we measure the magnetic circular dichroism of a 20 nm iron film. Furthermore, we explain the mechanisms of non-collinear high harmonic generation using analytical descriptions in both the photon and wave models. Advanced numerical simulations indicate that this non-collinear mixing enables the generation of isolated attosecond pulses with circular polarization. Scientists have demonstrated non-collinear circularly polarized high-harmonic generation and showed that this method generates bright circularly polarized extreme-ultraviolet beams with both left and right helicity simultaneously.

TL;DR: A comprehensive review of spin-polarized light-emitting diodes and surface emitting lasers is provided in this paper, concluding with a discussion of future prospects and operation principles and design of spinpolarised light sources.
Abstract: Spin-polarized light sources are a new class of devices in which the radiative recombination of spin-polarized carriers results in luminescence exhibiting a net circular polarization. The operation principles and design of spin-polarized light sources are discussed. A comprehensive review of experimental work on spin-polarized light-emitting diodes and surface-emitting lasers is provided, concluding with a discussion of future prospects.

TL;DR: This work demonstrates how planar chirality enables the fully independent realization of high-efficiency meta-holograms for one circular polarization or the other, and shows how to combine different functionalities for left- and right-handed polarized light into a single device, and could lead to new holographic imaging applications.
Abstract: By allowing almost arbitrary distributions of amplitude and phase of electromagnetic waves to be generated by a layer of sub-wavelength-size unit cells, metasurfaces have given rise to the field of meta-holography. However, holography with circularly polarized waves remains complicated as the achiral building blocks of existing meta-holograms inevitably contribute to holographic images generated by both left-handed and right-handed waves. Here we demonstrate how planar chirality enables the fully independent realization of high-efficiency meta-holograms for one circular polarization or the other. Such circular-polarization-selective meta-holograms are based on chiral building blocks that reflect either left-handed or right-handed circularly polarized waves with an orientation-dependent phase. Using terahertz waves, we experimentally demonstrate that this allows the straightforward design of reflective phase meta-holograms, where the use of alternating structures of opposite handedness yields independent holographic images for circularly polarized waves of opposite handedness with negligible polarization cross-talk.
