TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose a method of browsing the World Wide Web of the Internet using a client machine supporting a graphical user interface and an Internet browser, which locally stores, retrieves and outputs information objects to reduce the waiting time normally associated with the download of hypertext documents having high resolution graphics.
Abstract: A method of browsing the World Wide Web of the Internet using a client machine supporting a graphical user interface and an Internet browser. The method locally stores, retrieves and outputs information objects to reduce the waiting time normally associated with the download of hypertext documents having high resolution graphics. In one embodiment, the method begins as a web page is being displayed on the graphical user interface (70), the web page having a link to a hypertext document preferably located at a remote server. In response to the user clicking on the link, the link is activated by the browser (74) to request downloading the hypertext document from the remote server to the graphical user interface of the client (76). While the client waits for a reply and/or as the hypertext document is being downloaded, the browser displays a previously-cached information object (82).

TL;DR: In this article, a method and system for controlling a user interface presented by a web browser (104A) is presented, where the web browser is not blocked waiting for the asynchronous message.
Abstract: A method and system for controlling a user interface presented by a web browser (104A). The web browser (104A) is not blocked waiting for the asynchronous message. The web browser (104A) presents a user interface and presents a user interface change in response to receiving the asynchronous message.

TL;DR: In this article, the optimal presentation and editing of business data in a browser-based user interface of an integrated web-based business information system is described, including a browser at a user computer in dynamic communication with a web server.
Abstract: Optimal presentation and editing of business data in a browser-based user interface of an integrated web-based business information system is described, including a browser at a user computer in dynamic communication with a web server allowing database editing and updating without browser page refreshes. For optimizing the data input/editing experience of the user, an array of features in various combinations is provided including: single-click instantiation of cell editing in a table displayed by the browser; single off-click or keyboard commits instantiating cell-wise data transfers; bulk editing allowing group modification of data elements across a plurality of adjacently-displayed or non-adjacently displayed records; client-side, location-based caching of old cell values allowing selective go-back for any edited or bulk-edited cell, in any order desired by the user, prior to a page-refreshing input event; and easy establishment/modification of sub-records associated with any of a displayed list of records using sub-record access icons, rollover menus, and auxiliary browser windows.

TL;DR: JSPsych as mentioned in this paper is a JavaScript library for the development of Web-based experiments, which formalizes a way of describing experiments and then executes these descriptions automatically, handling the flow from one task to another.
Abstract: Online experiments are growing in popularity, and the increasing sophistication of Web technology has made it possible to run complex behavioral experiments online using only a Web browser. Unlike with offline laboratory experiments, however, few tools exist to aid in the development of browser-based experiments. This makes the process of creating an experiment slow and challenging, particularly for researchers who lack a Web development background. This article introduces jsPsych, a JavaScript library for the development of Web-based experiments. jsPsych formalizes a way of describing experiments that is much simpler than writing the entire experiment from scratch. jsPsych then executes these descriptions automatically, handling the flow from one task to another. The jsPsych library is open-source and designed to be expanded by the research community. The project is available online at www.jspsych.org .

TL;DR: A geographical web browser as discussed by the authors allows a user to navigate a network application such as the Word Wide Web by physically navigating in geographical coordinates by physically displaying web pages in a dashboard computer.
Abstract: A geographical web browser allows a user to navigate a network application such as the Word Wide Web by physically navigating in geographical coordinates. For example, a geographical web browser is implemented in a mobile unit such as a dashboard computer. The mobile unit includes one or more transducers such as antennas and is operative to receive locally broadcast signals or to operate a global positioning system (GPS) receiver. As the mobile unit navigates into different physical localities, different web pages are displayed by the geographical web browser. For example, a user desiring to buy a house can set the web browser to a real estate web page. Instead of clicking on a hyperlink to access web pages of properties in an area, the user drives into a first area and automatically receives web pages relating to homes in that area. When the mobile unit crosses town and enters a second area, a new set of web pages is downloaded relating to properties in the second area. The geographical web browser, methods, apparatus and systems disclosed herein enable improved road-navigation and traffic management, advertisement, and related services.
