TL;DR: In this article, an optical receiver may include a unitary transformation operator to receive an n-symbol optical codeword associated with a codebook, and a decoder to construct a codeeword based on the determinations, and decode the constructed codewords into a message using the codebook.
Abstract: An optical receiver may include a unitary transformation operator to receive an n-symbol optical codeword associated with a codebook, and to perform a unitary transformation on the received optical codeword to generate a transformed optical codeword, where the unitary transformation is based on the codebook. The optical receiver may further include n optical detectors, where a particular one of the n optical detectors is to detect a particular optical symbol of the transformed optical codeword, and to determine whether the particular optical symbol corresponds to a first optical symbol or a second optical symbol. The optical receiver may also include a decoder to construct a codeword based on the determinations, and to decode the constructed codeword into a message using the codebook. The optical receiver may attain superadditive capacity, and, with an optimal code, may attain the Holevo limit to reliable communication data rates.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a Turbo-TS beamforming scheme for millimeter-wave (mmWave) massive MIMO systems, which is composed of the following two key components: 1) Based on the iterative information exchange between the base station and the user, they designed a turbo-like joint search scheme to find out the near-optimal pair of analog precoder and analog combiner; 2) Inspired by the idea of TS algorithm developed in artificial intelligence, they proposed a TS-based precoding/combining scheme to intelligently search the best prec
Abstract: For millimeter-wave (mmWave) massive MIMO systems, the codebook-based analog beamforming (including transmit precoding and receive combining) is usually used to compensate the severe attenuation of mmWave signals. However, conventional beamforming schemes involve complicated search among pre-defined codebooks to find out the optimal pair of analog precoder and analog combiner. To solve this problem, by exploring the idea of turbo equalizer together with tabu search (TS) algorithm, we propose a Turbo-like beamforming scheme based on TS, which is called Turbo-TS beamforming in this paper, to achieve the near-optimal performance with low complexity. Specifically, the proposed Turbo-TS beamforming scheme is composed of the following two key components: 1) Based on the iterative information exchange between the base station and the user, we design a Turbo-like joint search scheme to find out the near-optimal pair of analog precoder and analog combiner; 2) Inspired by the idea of TS algorithm developed in artificial intelligence, we propose a TS-based precoding/combining scheme to intelligently search the best precoder/combiner in each iteration of Turbo-like joint search with low complexity. Analysis shows that the proposed Turbo-TS beamforming can considerably reduce the searching complexity, and simulation results verify that it can achieve the near-optimal performance.

TL;DR: A CELP type speech coding system is provided with an arithmetic processing unit which transforms a perceptual weighted input speech signal vector AX to a vector t AAX, a sparse adaptive codebook which stores a plurality of pitch prediction residual vectors P sparsed by a sparse unit, and a multiplying unit which multiplies the successively read out vectors P and the output tAAX from the arithmeticprocessing unit.
Abstract: A speech coding and decoding system, the system is operated under a known code-excited linear prediction (CELP) coding method. The CELP coding is achieved by selecting an optimum pitch vector P from an adaptive codebook and the corresponding first gain, and at the same time, selecting an optimum code vector from a stochastic codebook and the corresponding second gain. The system of the present invention is featured by a weighted orthogonalization transforming unit introduced therein. The perceptually weighted code vector AC is not used as is, as usual, but after the transformation thereof into a perceptually weighted code vector AC' by the above unit; the vector AC' being made orthogonal to the optimum perceptually weighted pitch vector AP.

TL;DR: The IntOPMICM technique is introduced, a new image compression scheme that combines GenPSO and VQ that produces higher PSNR SSIM values for a given compression ratio than existing methods, according to experimental data.
Abstract: Due to the increasing number of medical imaging images being utilized for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, lossy or improper image compression has become more prevalent in recent years. The compression ratio and image quality, which are commonly quantified by PSNR values, are used to evaluate the performance of the lossy compression algorithm. This article introduces the IntOPMICM technique, a new image compression scheme that combines GenPSO and VQ. A combination of fragments and genetic algorithms was used to create the codebook. PSNR, MSE, SSIM, NMSE, SNR, and CR indicators were used to test the suggested technique using real-time medical imaging. The suggested IntOPMICM approach produces higher PSNR SSIM values for a given compression ratio than existing methods, according to experimental data. Furthermore, for a given compression ratio, the suggested IntOPMICM approach produces lower MSE, RMSE, and SNR values than existing methods.

TL;DR: An evaluation method is proposed in order to objectively compare several segmentation techniques, based on receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis and on precision and recall method, to summarize the quality factor of a method by a single value based on a weighted Euclidean distance or on a harmonic mean between two related characteristics.
Abstract: Real time segmentation of scene into objects and background is really important and represents an initial step of object tracking. Starting from the codebook method [4] we propose some modifications which show significant improvements in most of the normal and also difficult conditions. We include parameter of frequency for accessing, deleting, matching and adding codewords in codebook or to move cache codewords into codebook. We also propose an evaluation method in order to objectively compare several segmentation techniques, based on receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis and on precision and recall method. We propose to summarize the quality factor of a method by a single value based on a weighted Euclidean distance or on a harmonic mean between two related characteristics.
