Abstract: We have studied the magnetization in the granular (Ni0.84Fe0.16)54(alumina)46 alloy. The thermomagnetization curve is found to obey the Bloch law. Spin wave stiffness constant D and the exchange constant A were calculated from the experimental results. The magnetic experimental measurements have been interpreted in the framework of random magnetic anisotropy (RMA) model. The results have shown that it is possible to extend the application of RMA to the granular alloy. From an analysis of the approach to saturation magnetization some fundamental parameters have been extracted. In addition, self-consistent ab initio calculations, based on Korringa–Kohn–Rostocker (KKR), are performed to investigate magnetic and electronic properties of the granular alloy. Spin polarization within the framework of the coherent potential approximation (CPA) is considered.

01 Jan 1973TL;DR: In this article, a straightforward extension of Hubbard's original approximation for the model is presented, where disorder is introduced in the hopping elements and in the interaction term, and it is argued that in many cases the former type of disorder is more important than the latter.
Abstract: The Hubb and model1 has been used extensively in the discussion of magnetism in metals2. It has also been employed as a model of disordered magnetic alloys3. Here we present a straightforward extension of Hubbard’s original approximation for the model. The disorder is introduced in the hopping elements and in the interaction term. We shall argue that in many cases the former type of disorder is more important than the latter.

04 May 2007TL;DR: In this article, the effects of local impurity configurations are taken into account by embedding a large cluster into the effective medium calculated by the coherent potential approximation, and the average of the configuration dependent interactions approximately converge to the two impurity embedding results.
Abstract: We discuss local environment effects on exchange interactions in dilute magnetic semiconductors. The effects of local impurity configurations are taken into account by embedding a large cluster into the effective medium calculated by the coherent potential approximation. We find a large discrepancy in calculated exchange interactions by our cluster embedding method and by the Liechtenstein’s method, because in our method the multiple scattering effect between site i and j is fully included. It is also found that the calculated exchange interactions strongly depend on the position of the impurities in the cluster other than site i and j. The average of the configuration dependent interactions approximately converge to the two impurity embedding results.
