TL;DR: In this paper, a ship manoeuvrability-based simulation for ship navigation in collision situations is established under the general requirement from the Convention on the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGs) and good seamanship.
Abstract: In this article, a ship manoeuvrability-based simulation for ship navigation in collision situations is established. Under the general requirement from the Convention on the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGs) and good seamanship, the determination of encounter situations is quantified to reduce navigators’ intervention. Meanwhile, the action manner by course alteration or changing speed in some typical encounter situations is graphically analysed for both the give-way and stand-on vessels. Then, the multiple genetic algorithm and linear extension algorithm are adopted to perform trajectory planning for collision avoidance. To improve the reliability of the simulation system, the mathematical model of ship motion and ship manoeuvring control mechanism are adopted, which can eliminate the insufficiency of neglect of ship manoeuvrability in the process of collision avoidance. Meanwhile, the course encoding technique is adopted to fit the ship manoeuvring control mechanism. Finally, a set of traffic scenarios emulating different encounter situations are applied to demonstrate the effectiveness, consistency, and practicality of this system.

TL;DR: In this paper, the most hazardous relative positions of aircraft on parallel approaches were identified through fast-time simulations of collision trajectories, and the need for automatic alerts and for autopilot control of the approach was conducted.
Abstract: To examine the issues with collision avoidance during closely spaced parallel approaches, two related studies have been performed. First, the most hazardous relative positions of aircraft on parallel approaches were identified through fast-time simulations of collision trajectories. Second, a part-task flight simulator evaluation of traffic displays, the need for automatic alerts and for autopilot control of the approach was conducted. While a need was identified for alerting systems to command effective avoidance maneuvers, pilots were found to frequently not conform to the commanded avoidance maneuver, with a resulting decrease in performance. Based on these results, concerns meriting further study are discussed.

TL;DR: The rule based collision avoidance algorithm can provide real-time collision detection and make safe deceleration for the cars crossing the uncontrolled intersection and demonstrate the function among the connected vehicles in intersection.
Abstract: Aiming to address the safety issue for the uncontrolled intersection, the existing schemes including design optimization of the intersection structure and additional traffic signal layout will waste lots of resources. With the rapid development of intelligent transportation, the technology of vehicle-vehicle communication provides a new way for this problem. The paper proposed a set of rules to clarify the sequence of vehicles to pass through uncontrolled intersection. The rules are planned based on the law of road traffic safety. According to the rules, each approaching car makes decision for preempting or yielding other cars based on the information from vehicle-vehicle communication. If the approaching car needs to yield other cars, the authors propose an algorithm to find a proper deceleration value to do yielding. The car brakes automatically using this deceleration value to avoid collision with other cars. After all, the tests were done to verify the effectiveness of the algorithm and demonstrate the function among the connected vehicles in intersection. The rule based collision avoidance algorithm can provide real-time collision detection and make safe deceleration for the cars crossing the uncontrolled intersection.

TL;DR: This article proposes an equal-distance surrounding control method for second-order nonlinear multiagent systems (MASs) to encircle multiple moving targets with guaranteed collision avoidance by developing a distributed estimator to approximate the center of moving targets.
Abstract: This article proposes an equal-distance surrounding control method for second-order nonlinear multiagent systems (MASs) to encircle multiple moving targets with guaranteed collision avoidance. First, a distributed estimator is developed to approximate the center of moving targets. Then, an adaptive distributed control law is designed for the MASs to accomplish equal-distance surrounding collaboratively. In particular, conditions for assuring asymptotical stability for the closed-loop MAS are derived. Finally, experimental results with unmanned surface vessels are reported to substantiate the effectiveness of the proposed coordinated surrounding control method.

TL;DR: In this paper, a digital situation plan of the vehicle and its surroundings is generated by using the vehicle's surroundings capture system, and a dynamic model is assigned to each detected object and to the vehicle itself.
Abstract: Method for motor vehicle accident avoidance has the following steps: generation of a digital situation plan of the vehicle and its surroundings by use of the vehicle's surroundings capture system, assignment of a dynamic model to each detected object (4) and to the vehicle (3) itself. Carrying out of a collision prediction based on the dynamic models, determination of a displacement and from it a collision probability. This is used to calculate a trajectory to avoid a collision, which is then implemented as an emergency maneuver. The invention also relates to a corresponding device for implementing the inventive method.
