Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, sixteen dioxime compounds including six new compounds were synthesized and their reactions with nickel, cobalt, iron(II, III) and copper ions were examined. And the compositions of the nickel-dioxime complexes were examined spectrophotometrically.

TL;DR: In this article, a reagent comprising a substance which releases hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a substance available in the milk or other liquid, and another reagent which yields a color reaction, the catalase content being determined qualitatively and quantitatively with the aid of the hue of the color thus produced.
Abstract: To the milk or other catalase-containing liquid, mainly of biological origin, are added a reagent comprising a substance which releases hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a substance available in the milk or other liquid, and another reagent which, upon oxidation by hydrogen peroxide, yields a color reaction, the catalase content being determined qualitatively and quantitatively with the aid of the hue of the color thus produced. A device for carrying out this assay method comprises the two reagents separated physically from each other by a space through which the generated hydrogen peroxide can diffuse and which is capable of admitting the milk or other liquid.

Abstract: Correction compsns. for colour reaction papers contain pigments and/or solid acids which yield a coloured marking on contact with colour-formers, e.g. clay minerals, activated clays, attapulgite, zeolite, bentonite, montmorillonite, metal silicates, silicic acid, gallic acid, tannin, tannic acid, benzoic acid, in addn. to standard cover pigments, e.g. TiO2, BaSO4, ZnS, ZnO, CaCO3. Coloured marking can be renderred invisible and colour reaction system can write over the corrected place.

TL;DR: In this paper, the color arising during the reaction of certain aromatic compounds [2,3,5,6-tetramethyl-N, N-dimethylbenzylamine (I), methoxydurene (II), durenol (III) with Marquis reagent is due to the formation of carbonium ions, the structure of which has been elucidated by low temperature NMR measurements as well as by isolation and identification of reaction products.
Mechanism of the Reaction of Aromatic Compounds with Formaldehyde in Concentrated Sulfuric Acid (Marquis Reagent). The colour arising during the reaction of certain aromatic compounds [2,3,5,6-tetramethyl-N, N-dimethylbenzylamine (I), methoxydurene (II), durenol (III)] with Marquis reagent is due to the formation of carbonium ions, the structure of which has been elucidated by low temperature NMR measurements as well as by isolation and identification of reaction products. The specificity of this type of colour reaction is discussed for phenolic compounds.

TL;DR: Spectral and structural studies involving a large number of steroids show that the colour reaction is specific for testosterone.
Abstract: The chromogen resulting from preliminary treatment of testosterone with concentrated sulphuric acid gives a stable green colour on further treatment with a saturated aqueous solution of picric acid. The absorbance graph of the green colour shows two maxima, at 470 and 640 nm, and obeys Beer's law. Under the specified conditions, absorbances at the two maxima have a fairly constant ratio (2·80 to 2·96), which is characteristic for testosterone and its esters in amounts ranging from 125 to 250 µg. Spectral and structural studies involving a large number of steroids show that the colour reaction is specific for testosterone.

TL;DR: In this article, color reaction of 3-methyl-2-thiohydantoin (MTH) in alkaline solution was investigated by polarographic method and the effect of metal ions on the autoxidation of MTH was also studied.
Abstract: Color reaction of 3-methyl-2-thiohydantoin (MTH) in alkaline solution was investigated by polarographic method. Hydrogen peroxide and bis (3-methyl-2-thiohydan-toinylidene-5) were confirmed in the autoxidation products of MTH and their apparent ratio was determined by this method. Effect of metal ions on the autoxidation of MTH was also studied and a reaction mechanism was proposed.

TL;DR: The colour reaction of copper(I) salts and complexes, in sulphuric acid medium, with ferricyanide and ammonia, has been used for the general identification of cuprous compounds and forms the basis of a test for ammonium ion and differentiation between ferrocyanide and fericyanide.
