TL;DR: In this article, a measuring apparatus is arranged to oxidize ethyleneglycol to form formaldehyde, and the length of the resulting colored layer is measured to facilitate the measurement of the concentration of ethylenedlycol.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To measure the concentration of ethyleneglycol in a conduit handily and quickly, by oxidizing ethyleneglycol in a gas for color reaction of the resulting aldehyde to measure the concentration thereof depending on the length of the colored layer thereof. CONSTITUTION:A measuring apparatus is so arranged to oxidize ethyleneglycol to form formaldehyde. For example, it is made up of a reaction tube 1 holding an oxidizing agent 2 comprising sodium periodate, an assay tube 4 holding a detection agent 5 comprising hydroxylaminephosphate, for instance, which detects and causes a color reaction of formaldehyde, a connection tube 7 and a gas sampler. Then, the reaction tube 1 is connected to an errect tube 10 of a conduit 9 through a connection tube 11. A sample gas is oxidized with the reaction tube 1 to form formaldehyde which is colored with the assay tube 4. Thus, the length of the resulting colored layer is measured to facilitate the measurement of the concentration of ethyleneglycol.

TL;DR: A new specific color reaction for the detection of vanadium(V) has been described, which results in a turquois blue color in a medium of 20 N sulphuric acid or sirupy phosphoric acid.
Abstract: A new specific color reaction for the detection of vanadium(V) has been described. This consists in treating the vanadium(V) solution with 0.1% sodium salicylate solution in a medium of 20 N sulphuric acid or sirupy phosphoric acid. A turquois blue color results.

TL;DR: In this paper, a spectrophotometric method for sulfur dioxide determination was explored on the basis of its complexation with TNP-amino acid derivatives forming an orange colored 1:1 complex with an increase in absorbance at 420 nm.
Abstract: A spectrophotometric method for sulfur dioxide determination was explored on the basis of its complexation with TNP-amino acid derivatives forming an orange colored 1:1 complex with an increase in absorbance at 420 nm. TNP-glycine, TNP-threonine, TNP-serine and TNP-histidine were investigated. The color development was instantaneous and the absorbance remained unchanged even after 24 hrs of mixing when kept in the dark. Linear calibration graphs (0-5 × 10−5M sulfite ions) were obtained at optimal reaction conditions of 7 × 10−5M TNP-amino acid and pH 8.0 phosphate buffer (0.05 M). The investigation of the effect of several diverse ions revealed an interference by sulphide and mercury (II) ions at concentration levels of 10−4M. The standard deviation of determining 3 × 10−5M sulfite solution (10 times) was 1.474 × 10−7 M.

TL;DR: In this paper, the color reaction of a card type reagent is analyzed using a color reagent on a tray section 11a and stored in a device main body 11 connected to a computer.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color measurement apparatus and color measurement program that can certainly read the state of an analyte dosed to a color reagent and accurately measure it while suppressing the cost.SOLUTION: The color measurement apparatus 10 performs an analysis of the color reaction of a card type reagent 100 by setting the card type reagent 100 on a tray section 11a and storing it in a device main body 11 connected to a computer. The device main body 11 includes an area sensor camera 114 that simultaneously photographs a range including a two-dimensional bar code applied to a substrate and a color reaction part in which the color reagent develops color, and outputs it as pick-up image data for calculating a measured value corresponding to the color reaction of the color reagent on the basis of the measurement information indicated by the two-dimensional bar code.
